Sheffield United have only won two of their last 12 league games - we should've smashed them last night.

BRUCE OUT!

(Just for a bit of balance) ;)

Well it’s all fine now and  he has till the end of season anyway now. If we don’t go up he should go.

What if we finish 3rd by goal difference and then lose the play off final on penalties after drawing 4-4 in playing time?

I like the poll, we should keep it into next season as well.

Then he would have failed to get us promotion in 2 attempts and would have very little to complain about if we let him go.  Remember if we don't go up this year there's likely to be another huge rebuilding job in the summer because a lot of squad will either finish their loans or be out of contract.  At that point I'd expect to see a lot more of the U23 players (the ones that are currently top of their league) coming through so a manager more suited to the 'villa engine' would be a good idea.

I hope that doesn't happen though, going up this season has to be the aim and all my posts about Bruce to this point have been because we were well behind the pace, right now we're genuinely in the mix so he's doing what we should have expected and is therefore safe.

We've only won five of our last five, Bruce Out!

I like the man
Don't necessarily like his football at times or his methods
I still think if we go up then here is a huge bonus and thanks for all your effort but bye as we need something better in The Prem

But

I must eat my words as he has now assembled a very decent squad that certainly grafts for the cause. Considering the car crash this club was I really think we should debate on a game by game basis but remove the poll as he clearly is staying until the end.

I've been pretty much comfortable with him since he's been here. There's been bumps along the way and there's a good chance there might be again but I'm pleased with what he's done so far.

I'm all full of dilemmas:

The football can be grim/functional at times - did we really expect anything else?

We didn't get promoted last season and SB is the promotion master.

We've lost games in absolute turgid fashion

But

I think given the state we were in 18 months ago (and looking at Sunderland now) I think the team spirit is only now appearing to be in the mould of a SB side.

One more defeat though and I'll be back in hysterical mode! ;D ;D

Haha, you seem a little obsessed but it's nice to be noticed I suppose.

The way I see it, he's a means to an end, a promotion specialist. Once he's done his job and got us up we need to move on and replace him. I would no  more want him managing us in the Premier League than I'd want John Terry playing in goal. It's not his specialist role - his shortcomings have been regularly exposed in the Prem - so we shouldn't try and force it.

I know it sounds a bit harsh - especially on the back of 5 straight wins - but he has no sentiment when it comes to ditching clubs to further his own ambition ( he couldn't wait to leave Palace to join Blues, didn't it end up in a court case?) and we need to be the same. If we get promoted, I don't want us waiting until it might be too late before we realise that he's not the man for the next level.

He's having a great season, by the way

It's been difficult to not notice your undying loyalty to the Bruce. If you hadn't been posting on here for years, known across the whole internet as 'Clamps', I'd have sworn you were his son. Saying that, two months ago we both agreed that by the end of December he should keep his job if he was within 5 points of second place. Roll on another month and we're now 1 point from 2nd place. End of February I expect us to be owning 2nd place. Agreed?

I'm not sure why I should agree to anything to be honest. The fact that i've been behind Bruce seems to have bothered you more than it probably should which i've found a tad amusing. You've been on his back and that's fine. Shall we leave it at that?

Ha! I may be a tad superstitious but it worked last time, Clampy but rest assured if we're not in the top 2 by the end of next month I'll be blaming you not Bruce.
