And Stoke lost at 4th tier Coventry, it's the cup shocks happen, move on to the next much more important game

Sadly, they happen to us quite often.

They happen to Stoke more - how many non-league teams have they lost to in the cup?!

One good performance in the last 8 games ( a very good one).
Today just re-emphasises his muddled thinking.

Bruce watch today
Picked players in their wrong positions, notably Delaet, Barny, O Hare and Grealish when he came on-nothing new there
Played 1 up front to mighty posh (at home)-nothing new there
Posh on top for most of the game (could have been in front deservedly at half time). Their goals were coming, but very little in-game management from Bruce to change things-nothing new there.
No reaction from Bruce after the posh 2nd goal, just stood with arms behind his back, didn't gee players up-for me, nothing new there.
Wrong substitutions, O Hare instead of Onomah-nothing new there.
O Hare coming off was met with boos and fans in L7/8 chanting "you don't know what your doing"
On the bright side, at least he's learnt a new word-"hindsight" has replaced hysteria.
For me Bruce out (the dozy cnut)! I know it won't happen at the moment because of being in play off positions, but he is utter sh-te!

Didn't go today but picking players in their correct position and playing one up front seem to be problems that Bruce has difficulty in solving. He can cope with the easy logistics of  5-3-2 or 442.Playing one up front requires  midfield players supporting the main striker .Onomah and Barney were described as box to box players by SB..Surely they would be better suited to making runs into the box from deeper positions .Then you need goalscoring midfielders.Hourihane and O'Hare fit that bill in central positions but rarely play there.Hourihane got a hattrick v Norwich when he was pushed further forward.Adomah does it from wide areas.Grealish an ideal free spirit. There are many formations we could try .A Xmas tree if we want 1 striker,a Diamond for 2 strikers but at least play players that suit the system or play a system that suits the chosen X1.

Sheffield United away is off now btw as they won.

Our next four league games are:

Forest (A)
Barnsley (H)
Burton (H)
SHA (H)

10 points and this is all forgotten. Would be pretty disappointed if we got less than that.

Any reason why the Sheff U fixture wouldn't be rearranged asap? For example just moving it from the Saturday to the Tuesday?

I never thought I would live to see the day when so many Villa fans would be ambivalent about us going out of the FA cup at home to a club we have always considered beneath us.  If we finish out of the play off positions today will be just another of the hundreds of stupid, unnecessary rolls of the dice made by our last six managers and three owners.  This is not the Aston Villa I grew up with.

Evening Brian. I dunno about ambivalent I am pissed off and annoyed but less pissed off and annoyed than if it was a league game if that makes sense.

But yes it would have been nice to win something this year. I did agree with Bruce's full team rotation though. We needed to give our squad a run out to see how they are. Sadly it looks like "not so good". :\

While i usually agree with you Brian, i would hope any Manager in the context of where we are in the league this season would prioritise that over the cup. I don't think even our first team is good enough to win the cup so another round or so playing the 1st team against possibly injuries and tiredness affecting our league form, then i think a pragmatic decision has to be made. If we had the squad to go on two fronts then by all means but we clearly haven't
