The big worry is he appointed a new coach only a week ago

Regarding that article Steve Bruce being appointed in the PL was a nailed on disaster. If there was a board arguably worse than the one we had it was that lot. Appointing him in the Championship came with a lot less risk and should have come with more certainty.

The article references his tactics, brand of ‘football’ and signings who he doesn’t play. Not to mention his twattish comments to the clubs fans. None of these things are league specific! Bad management/coaching is bad management/coaching!

No it doesn’t. But that’s not to say it hasn’t worked in a lower league setting. That’s my point really. Steve Bruce has been the exact same manager wherever he has been. And his approach as described in the article has clearly worked for him at times. But it comes with significant limitations none more so than at PL level.

Just stumbled across villa v forest 2016. Di Matteo"s team contained Gestede, Ayew, Mcormack, Kodja, Grealish. Ok we did draw but we hit post & bar and looked way more of an attacking outfit. All things considered it just doesn't seem like we've progressed as a team although we're now 8th in the league.

i remember Rotherham first home game last season - lined up with Gestede and McCormack up front with Ayew and Jack on wing. We destroyed them and I honestly thought we'd demolish everyone in the division but that OTT attacking lineup didn't work obviously - plus everyone demolished Rotherham.

If RDM just knew how to close out games we’d have been sitting top 2 or 3 in the league and he’d never have got fired. We looked great in long spells in most of the games he managed until the very end of them. And then the wheels fell off as the morale dropped.

Seriously cannot see why he has not been sacked since Tuesday. It is not going to get better and he is not going to change his football strategy (stop.laughing)  if anything it will only get worse as he gets more and more desperate.

I hope to God we have a plan and that it is timed correctly to allow the new coach a window to freshen up the squad. I still think even with our injury list we have a squad capable of getting auto promotion this season all we need is a man with a plan and some method.

Fuck the dinosaur off now.

I see carlivall has already been snapped up by Swansea   - shame as I would have had a look at him

He'll slot nicely into our impressive backroom staff.

Apologies if this has been posted already but I’ve just been made aware of it.

https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/football/blog/2011/nov/30/steve-bruce-sunderland-sacked

It’s stunning just how similar this is to what we are currently going through with Bruce. He just has to go.
Holy friggin' Jesus.
I may have read this before - cannot remember, TBH - but it is obviously something that Wyness et al did not read before appointing the man. There are some breath-taking observations in this article that should warn many Chairmen / CEO off hiring him.
Wow. De-ja-bloody-vu. The bloke is a real life version of groundhog day. Makes the decision to employ him look very very dodgy. He's clearly not learned a single thing from past mistakes. I always thought he had a fight with Mcormack. Now I'm even more convinced especially when I think back to his interview when his face was battered. That's total dereliction of duty when you consider how desperate we are for a striker.

I'd read that article before he joined us, and again as he joined us.  It sums him up perfectly and outlines all the reasons I didn't want him despite his promotion record.  What's happened since just shows how that reporter had him totally sussed.  It's uncanny how everything mentioned still applies, and has been raised on this forum regularly, except for perhaps one thing, the so-called "high-tempo".  He's even managed to lose that one saving grace since joining us.  Interesting she mentions the PL had moved on with more foreign coaches and had left Bruce behind.  It's beginning to look as if the Championship has done likewise.

“ I’m not really into tactics”

I was amazed when I first read that, it’s still so obviously true.

Well I've been one wanting to give him a chance but after the recent run he's got to go. There's no excuse for the football we're playing.

There was just no coherent plan at all for Brentford. Nothing. What is it about our club that nobody seems able to sort out a style, an approach, tactics...
