"I'm not making excuses. But we keep chopping and changing as we've lost key players," Bruce told BBC WM.

"You hope it won't derail you, but we're without our best players. And, when you need your big ones to do something and pull you out of the mire, they're not here."

So you're making excuses then Steve.

Any side in this division would suffer with injuries and are. How many can replace a player like Kod with another £10m striker, and have yet another £10m striker out on loan?

There was always the possibility Terry would miss a few games at the age he is and the amount of games we play at this level  , so SB should have prepared for that  .

Exactly. The injuries excuse is bollocks. We've got the best squad in the league and a couple of weeks ago he was telling us that it's this part of the season where our squad depth should show it's value.

Cardiff have been missing their best player for most of the season and have spent almost all of it in the top two.

The issue is that he doesn't get the most out of the players on the pitch, not that the wrong players are on the pitch.

And players coming into the team don’t seem motivated enough to stay there.

With the resources we have, he’s had enough time to make his mark and hasn’t. Even the defensive rigidity has fellen away.

Time to make a change.

Time to go. We won't go up with him at the helm. I still think we just painted over the cracks. Even if we would get promoted, we would be an embarrassment as we are so far behind in terms of tactics, mentality, fitness and team spirit. Get a progressive manager, give him time and bring on more young talent that can be shaped in a team. I'd rather take Nathan Jones or Lee Johnson than someone like Koeman (as if he would come anyway). Eddie Howe would be my dream appointment. His style of football backed with funding would be a good way forward - long term.

It appears we've hit the Randy Lerner managerial situation. We'll have Bruce for a good while yet.

When we are out of contention for promotion, the fans will get him out.

We bought the captain of Forest, the captain of Barnsley, 12m for for a 30 year old striker, 12m for another striker that he never plays, brings in Samba who hasn't played in years, let go of Baker who is in his prime. We have a great squad but they look awful. At the beginning of the season when we were grinding out results we had 30-35% possesion. We shouldn't be letting anyone touch the ball with our squad. How many senior coaches has he bought in now too??

Tony's lack of tweets is also telling. I hope that they have been working on lining up someone in the new year. I like Bruce as a man, and he's done great work as a manager, but the team doesn't want to break through walls for him.

"I don't want any team of mine just crashing the ball forward. We've got to have some structure, not just get rid of it."

That is a hilarious quote from Bruce, because that is exactly what we do all the time.

Yet he picks Jedinak and Whelan in midfield last night.

I don't even like him as a person.  He insults the intelligence of the fans.  Comments about crashing the ball forward being a typical example.

That’s when you know he’s lost the plot. When he can’t even look in the mirror and accept he’s a huge part of the problem. That it is HIS tactics and inability to see his flaws that have put us in this position. It becomes everyone else’s fault not his.

His excuses about injuries might hold some validity if he had no squad-options; but he has. Instead of persisting with the tired old approach, he could have had a couple of the youngsters in the matchday squad to freshen things up and provide some youthful exuberance.

They'd also be more valid if he hadn't bought in a bunch of players that rarely play for us and instead of bringing in another couple of right backs he'd brought in another decent CB as cover.

He seems to miss the point, when criticising the way the players lump it forward, that he is the one responsible for how they play.  Perhaps if he got off his fat arse and onto the training pitch a bit more he might be able to stop them doing what they are not supposed to do.  As for injuries, well Terry is 36 so was always likely to be unavailable at some stage.  Samba is also knocking on a bit and very injury prone.  So by having those two and telling Elphick he's not wanted, you didn't have to be Nostradamus to see Bruce was leaving himself exposed at CB.  But then I guess he thought he could use Jedi there - I wonder if they ever tried that in training? Together with his failed signings the whole things smacks of simply not having a workable plan or an effective approach.   I can only imagine that this league has been incredibly mediocre in the past for him to achieve his promotion record.  His PL record tells the real story of his ability.

De Laet and Bree can both play centrally as well as on the right. One has pace and the other a giant throw in.
