It’s interesting that some people think getting rid of Potato and getting a new manager in will make everything alright and we’ll go up.

We haven’t had a decent team for a very, very long time. The chances of a new manager coming in and being successful seems to me very unlikely.

Whilst we won’t go down, I think we will end up languishing in the Championship like Leeds, Sheff Wed and Forest. The only way we won’t is if we get extremely lucky with our next manager being superb.

In defence of Potato, and I’m not particularly wanting him to stay, but if you take the best centre back and best striker out of most teams, they will probably struggle. Our run of good games coincided with Kodjia coming back (I think). Maybe the Dr. will keep him on for this reason. Kodjia isn’t back for a while yet, but Terry should be and he’ll probably give Potato a loan striker signing.

Regarding being managed by Mr Woody Slyme,. in the demo I watched the slime is bright orange so I suppose he would want to go to Blackpool.

I'd give him another 5 games, after a shit spell we do ok. Sack him then.
Give wood slime a little time to evaluate the squad.

Why are we surprised at out current predicament, and standard of performances?
We have performed this season, exactly how we performed last season. The same ‘style’ of football, the same paucity of quality, the same levels of mediocrity.

We KNEW what were going to get.
I and many others said that Bruce was not going to undergo some sort of footballing epiphany over the summer and come back playing the sort of football that would get us out of this shit, poxy division.
Bruce should have gone on the last day of last season.
But, the powers that be know better than us and have decided that this miserable, soul destroying, pathetic excuse for football is acceptable.

I could fucking weep.

Not gloating Ads, your faith and defence of him has been admirable, but there is a limit to any mans patience.

Starting with a midfield of Whelan and Jedinak was one of the most stupid things Bruce has ever done. They have the mobility of a pair of wardrobes and about the same passing range. Whelan especially was abysmal. It makes it so easy for a manager like Dean Smith to set his team up to pass us off the pitch.

You see the two might be slow but I thought it might work as one had been detailed with standing on that little ginger fucker. Instead we gave them acres to play through us and little pressing of the ball. I also presumed that, with that front four, we were going to play on the floor to them. I shouldn't have been so stupid. In 3 weeks we have gone from being in striking distance of the automatic places to just keeping in touch with those in the play offs. From our promotion expert, at the time of year he identified as crucial, that is woefully unacceptable. If we are as skint as suggested then we need a manager that can play football now. If we stick, we need the mother of all rabbits to come out of the hat by way of a striker in January. And some extra pace out wide wouldn't go amiss either.

I think it's time for a change. We do OK for a bit and then fall back to the same mundane crap that isn't going to win us games like yesterday. I don't know who the answer is.

It should be decided now and he should be gone.

17 points away from 1st place - unacceptable
9 points away from automatic promotion places - unacceptable
5 games without a win - unacceptbable
8th place - unacceptable
1 team in top 13 scored less goals than us - unacceptable
general level of performance - unacceptable

I cannot see what he has done to justify still being in a job.

It’s a damning indictment of our present manager. It deserves sharing with a wider audience, so I hope you don’t mind but I’ve quoted you on twitter 👍🏻👍🏻

Dr Tony hasn't put anything on Twitter for a few weeks now. He has a big decision to make, hope it's the correct one.

If we were top two or in the play off positions you could make a case for sticking with Bruce, but even then you know that if we got promoted then the sack would be inevitable following a season of being thrashed in the premier league. As it stands though now, to persist with Bruce means another five months of hoof ball with almost inevitable guarantee that he will be sacked at the end of the season when we miss out on promotion. Sticking with Bruce now means that we have to give him another transfer window, and let's be honest his track record in the transfer window has been a shocker. I also think its right to call his man management into question. He brought Gabby back into the fold, yet hung McCormack out to dry at the first opportunity, and buying Hogan now seems to have been reckless with the clubs finances.

For me I would get rid now, and give the gig to John Terry. I'm almost sure he is going to go into management at some point, so why not start with us. He's clearly a very talented footballer, and should have some top connections so why not give him a go? He might be a success, he might not, but the same could be said for every manager and all managers, good or bad have to start somewhere. Steve Bruce was supposedly a promotion expert - that's not exactly working out is it?

Personally i'd bin him asap and bring in someone with a long term vision rather than wait until the summer. It would give him another 5 months and an extra transfer window to start implementing what he wants.
Bruce is already on his 4th crap run of results, or 3rd if you count the end of last season and start of this one as one run, and I have no doubt there'll be another before the end of the season. And after just over a year of Bruce our 'style' of play still seems to be to nothing more than try and keep it tight and hope someone does something at the other end.
Hear, hear.
I actually think Koeman would be bang-on the right choice at this point in time, if he could be persuaded to take this project on, with relatively little money to play with.
I particularly do not want a manager who sees the chequebook as the way to salvation: I want someone who can dig out the gems from all around the divisions and then blend the talent into a formidable team, using a combination of youth and experience; someone who sees the advantage in moving the ball quickly and emphasises the importance of players being fit, fast and quick-thinking. Someone who puts square pegs in square holes and maximises players' specific skills.
