Player manager Terry. knows it's not about hoofball. Agnew providing the experience on the bench when he returns. give them to the end of the season. what we got to lose?

Our dignity.

Genuine question here because in amongst the criticism of Bruce is that he's bought a load of duds. Do people think this squad is promotion material? If Tony pulls the trigger today is the bare minimum for any new manager the playoffs? Or do they get a bit more slack?

Honestly I think our squad is very good for this level. Bruce's transfers are the least of his problems, in fact they can be good. The problem, just like his football is his transfers are very immediate and short term, never a sense of building towards something.

Squad is top 6.

Mentality in how we approach games with tactics and tempo isn't.

I've had my doubts when he's been mentioned before but now is the time for a Dean Smith appointment. We need a coach on the training ground to get more out of some of these players.

Hardly. On the pitch Terry has never given more than 100%. You don't have to like the guy, in fact the best managers tend not to be that cuddly. Rather that than the likes of Gabby and richards getting a free ride as mascots under Bruce

Righto lets get him gone then Tone. If you dont we are down here for a while. I genuinely fear we are going to be one of those "Oh yeah Aston Villa, they used to be a big" clubs.

To be fair, we've already become part of the big four legged chair.

Leeds, Sheff W, Forest and us.

The truly awful thing is how comfortably we've slotted into place.

And we are by far the biggest leg

But riddled with woodworm

I have no problem with Bruce as a bloke, seems pleasant.

However he cannot get a team set up to dominate, or change a game. I genuinely think he has no chance of getting us promoted and therefore he has to go.

Our dignity.

Dignity left us after Chelsea, Bradford and the other Lambert humiliations. She took the kids with her after we got relegated and the past twelve months she has also got custody of the dog.

Not sure what else we have to lose on the dignity front.

He would be a disaster though. Regardless of who, Aston Villa is not a first time manager job.

If we take Dean Smith it will take him 12 to 18 months to get the team playing 'give and go' football. At the moment we have a very old team. Hutton, Terry, Whelan (cant tackle) nor can Houralane - Jedeck is old. Kodjah will not score in the premiership.

We really need to get back to what Vic Crowe did when we really were in the shit. Build from the bottom and come back in force.

A month ago, we were prowling, hunting down an automatic spot. Now we're outside the playoffs.

There's been too many spells like this, and if you want to go up top two then you can't really afford any at all.

We've constantly played catch-up since he arrived.

We'll never go up if he stays. Even if we did make the play-offs, I can't see an organised, motivated, ambitious opposition allowing themselves to succumb to something as basic as Bruceball. A fresh face now might just give us cause for some optimism, a change, a fighting chance at least.

I'm still the same because until this recent run we had been in good form.  We are only three points off the play-offs.  The last few results haven't been good enough.  But nothing much has changed for me.  We're still in touching distance and if we don't make the play-offs then make the change.

Good chance this time next week we'll be 9 points off the play offs

Don't agree. worse case scenario we stay in the Championship and Terry goes in the summer. Get a permanent manager now and we're committed to them and that means unemployed managers. No-on good or with potential is going to look to jump ships in january and we probably wouldn't pay the compensation. Sometimes you bring in a guy who's playing standards drag up the rest of the team. He wouldn't be punting long balls at Hogan every game that's for sure

I think that if we were seeing progress, i think most of us would have the patience. I think Dean Smith, would be a long term sucess for us if we give him the time and backing of the board and fans. Whats more, hes one of us...he knows what the club should be, so will not tolerate fools. The more i think of it, the better it sounds!

Hmm, some good points. Does Terry even have his badges? Not sure he can be a manager regardless of his putative merits.
