I was at Preston. We were terrible that day. Performances were generally getting worse under RDM. Very lucky to get a point at Ipswich and also really poor for an hour v Newcastle.

It was the right decision to let him go, he didn't have the urgency to turn around the club.

Well i remember that game and yes it was bad, but in the context of what RDM was facing in hindsight we pulled the trigger too early. RDM was given basically 2 months if that, and he was taking.on as i say an awful awful squad, not enough time to do anything really - he wasn't even given the time for his signings like Kodjia to bed in. Just look at those players in our relegation season and only Hutton still figures regularly, so basically a total rebuild. At the time the general opinion was we didn't have to make many changes to have a competitive side and that has since proven totally wrong. If we'd known that at the time, and realised promotion was a long shot, he may have got a bit more patience

RDM made some poor choices, a rookie keeper, Elphick, McCormack, bacuna at righ back.  Rewrite history by all means but RDM was out of his depth

I see they have announced that they are opening the Trinity Road 3rd tier, this is obviously to capture the momentum gained from the results and performance in December.

Erm.

Out of his depth is the wrong phrase. He got the Olbiyun promoted from this division and won the FA Cup and Champions League at Chelsea.

The Villa was a challenge he'd not faced before but given how much rope Bruce has been afforded it looks increasingly like RDM got the bullet a bit prematurely.

I think it was the TV interview after the Preston game where he came across as having given up and feeling sorry for himsel.
I don’t know if that was because he had been told that the game was up or that he was finding it too much.
I agree though, that Bruce has been given far more rope.

He was out of his depth at that time. Obviously when he was younger he wasn’t.

the surprise was that we didn't see more impact from Steve Clarke in that time. I expected him to provide more stability and solidity.

Erm.

It was open the other night, there were a couple of hundred or so up there, in a crowd of 35k plus.

Erm.

It's amazing how thoroughly miserable people can manage to be on a football forum  on Christmas Day.

Merry Christmas all. Have a great day.

For the sake of balance I consider Aston Villa and its future far more important than Ho Ho Ho ism and forced jollity.

I wish you all a happy new year led by the revival of our football club.

Steve Clarke pretty much signed Tishbola for us, that was his impact on the club.

I think RDM was too laid back and underestimated the task ahead. When he was appointed sources who worked with him at Chelsea and WBA said he wasn't the most hands on and would take regular fag breaks etc.

When we lined up at Sheff Weds all we had signed were Elphick, Gollini, Tishbola and McCormack.

I really think he thought the squad we'd come down with could go straight back up with a few additions despite pretty much all of us wanting a major clear out.

If he is to be replaced I hope we forget about the likes of Pulis and Monk they no doubt will turn up at another club. As long as it's not mine.
