Read rumblings on Twitter that all was not rosy in the dugout today.

You cant just pop in and tells us this, without giving us whats been said!! ;D

"Bruce rattled, giving fans who question him the death stare , whelan openly questioning the subs with coaches, something tells me #AVFC ain’t a happy camp this Yuletide". As I say, sounds like nowt in the grand scheme of things.

What was said?

Bruce getting irate with the critical fans roundabout, and Whelan being quite unhappy with something or other. Sounds like nothing really.

I was sat the other side of the pitch and can report he wouldn’t have enjoyed his evening over our side either, equally critical :-)

Saying that you play dullard football you reap what you sew when grinding out wins doesnt come off.

I still cannot believe how O"Hare was not on the bench again like he hasn't been for ages. I like Bruce as a person but his tactics are useless and two right backs on the bench says it all surely. He moans about mistakes but Jedinak is not a centre half ffs

Right, im now fully decided that under Bruce, that things just aint working. I can take the odd bad performance, the odd mistake, and the odd managerial fuck-ups, but this is now getting routine. The thing that really tells me that he has ran out of time, is his ignorance to what is happening on the pitch, and taking heed of previous selection and tactical mistakes that he has made.

Lets take Jedi for instance.

Lat week at Derby, he was all over the place. Derby had three good chances within the first five minutes and it was obvious that he was struggling back there. So seeing that, he goes and selects him there again today, with i suspect with the only purpose of keeping Whelan in the side. It was pretty obvious from the beginning that Jedis positioning was suspect, and that any run on him or through ball will have hopelessly isolated. So what happens...not once, but twice.

Now in my opinion, a change should of been made after their first goal, especially when it was pretty obvious that it was likely to happen again. But no, despite having a central defender on the bench, and De Laet whom has played their in the past, he does nothing.

We then concede again, through the same players defensive failings, and the Managers blindness to whats happening. Everyone in the ground could see it, the commentators could see it, Sheffield United could see it, since they tried to get one on ones against Jedi....so question is, why could he not see it?

Jedinak should be in Whelans position from the start, and if Elphick is not going to play, then why is he taking a spot up on the Bench? Also note the two right backs on that bench aswell..
This blindness that Bruce seems to develop, and then his cliched after match comments blaming everyone and everything but himself, is the telltale sign of Manager whom has ran out of ideas. He just has to go!!

Whelan??  Why does that not surprise me.

Thing is, Bruce is creating the problems himself with his selections and pure stubborness. It would not surprise me if their are serious mumblings between groups of players at Bodymoor.

I have to say I thought other than Grealish, Whelan and Chester were our best players today.

Garry Monk has just been (correctly) sacked for a record of only 10 wins in 23.

Monk looks like a tactical genius compared to Bruce.

It is not going to happen.
He has just brought in a new coach, and will have Jan targets lined up.
unfortunately that is how I see it, end of the season is a different matter.

He has three shortcomings.  All three have the prefix 'in'.   He lacks football intuition.  The innate sense all good managers have to anticipate what happens next before the opposition.  He is defensive and dour by inclination.  He regards not losing as important as winning.  Despite victory yielding three times more points.  And he lacks intelligence.  Dave Bassett Football Manager is buried in the same grave as Dixon of Dock Green and Ena Sharpies.  A successful modern manager has to be bright and sharp and clever.  See 'intuition' and 'inclination'.   Steve Bruce is not the answer to our decline.

Totally agree plus I would add he lacks inspiration.

Inability to beat the other top 7 sides.
