Sadly it's unlikely that any of the bigger names are going to want to come to us, and we don't afford the luxury of giving a new manager some patience to build something. If Wagner had been appointed before we saw what he did at Huddlesfield then we would be shouting from the rooftops.

Moyes seems to be having a good start. I didn't see the Derby game but Derby at least try to play attacking football??

Mid-table on form at the moment, not good enough but not enough to slit wrists yet.

We've had a blip (again) and really need to get back on it. However, having Terry, Jedinak, Kodjia, Grealish and Hogan out would have hurt any team. Out of our strikers, Kodjia, Hogan, RHM and Agbonlahor have all suffered injuries, McCormack was sent out because of his attitude and Davis has played too much for someone so young. It's certainly a bit tricky to play two up top with that lot.

We need another run starting on Saturday, that's for sure. At least we've some strikers coming back into contention (unfortunately they are strikers that haven't exactly had the net bulging for us) which will give us some options. Terry coming back will add solidity too.
The blips now equals 10 points from 2nd.
Automatic promotion has gone.
When he has had Hogan fit he has decided not to play him and we all know why that is.
I agree he has overplayed Davis yet has not been able to come up with any alternative to the play off the big man up front.
The football that is being served up is from an entertainment or results perspective is not fit for purpose.

I don't think we can afford to sack him, since i imagine he's on a pretty decent contract. Then add in the expense of paying compensation to whomever we poach our next failure from, and that he will possibly want his own staff brought with him, i just can not see the good Doctor risking it with FFP hanging around his neck.

Also, a prospective new manager would know his hands are effectively tied behind his back when it comes to strengthening, so if they have any ambitions, then they will surely consider us a high risk??

That leaves the job open for any out of work chancer, and little hope of us going up anytime soon. I think Bruce is failing big time, but i think our options for change went out the window when the club decided to let him spunk millions up the wall. So in fact, i hold the good Doctor and the other cronies just as culpable for the situation we are in.

We have no other choice but to stick with Bruce, grin and bare his tactical ineptness, and hope he gets us up. Catch 22 really.

Pretty much agree with all that.

Me too.  I think we'll struggle to get top 2 now though and play-off lottery isn't good enough really, so I can understand why people react like they do.  We need to put 5,6,7 wins together and see where we are.  A bit of pressure and we'll see how Barcahampton and Cardiff handle it when the winter bites.  We need to revel in the chase rather than crumble under it, and I hope Bruce can instil this in the team.

He was only Caretaker Manager. Worked with Bodger at Hull and sees himself as a "creative coach". Good bloody luck to him.

He was Karanka’s assistant then caretaker after he went.

Yup. Better coach than manager I heard and judging by his record you'd hope so.

Sums it up, good post.
This is the sad reality and one many predicted, he would do enough to keep his job but not enough to get us where we need to be and now it is too late to do anything other than soldier on.
We have to hope that he can continue to grind out enough results to give us the chance of the play offs.
I hate to think what sort of a basket case of a club we could be after this season.

Automatic promotion has gone in your eyes, yes. But it hasn't in reality.

Mathematically no but once the gap gets to this point you're talking about 2-3 teams imploding completely (Warnock is too long in the tooth for that to happen at Cardiff, in my opinion) and/or us going on a run of 8-9 wins on the bounce and building pressure on them, right now this looks unlikely because we don't look like consistently scoring enough goals to get those wins, our patches of good form have all coincided with someone having a purple patch in front of goal and that's just not sustainable.

Yes a saddenly good post. I’ve said it before but the longer he is here the longer it will be to recover from him. He should have gone the minute we were safe last season but I really fear we’re stuck with him, at least for the foreseeable future

He left Hull a month after getting them promoted.
