That bit in his interview where he says “it feels like I’m starting again”.  Well, that’s what happens when you take a short term shit-or-bust approach with no thought whatsoever for the future.

Getting his excuses in if we have a slow start. Pathetic how the press buys this crap.

Aye.  Or 'It feels like I am starting again' because the first two years don't count.  Conveniently.

It also means all the things that did not work before he will try again, like hoofing the ball in the air to short people with no ability in the air.

Can you imagine if behind the scenes we are to sell jack for say £30 mil and hand him £10mil for transfer / loans

Could you imagine the "Experienced Pro's" he would want - I shudder to think

Dyche and Benitez both with articles on the BBC that translate to "my board don't back me"

Dyche has done a great job at Burnley but I don't see how he's too far removed from Bruce, football not pretty and likes his seasoned pros.

I wouldn't want Dyche here for the reason you outline. The key difference between them though is that Dyche massively overachieves and Bruce is Bruce at Aston Villa.

He is miles removed from Bruce. He bought  cheap younger players like Andre Gray,Nick Pope,Ben Mee,Tarkowski Michael Keane,  Sam Vokes  ,Tom Heaton and improved them .He lost 2 good strikers in Rodriguez and Ings but still Burnley prospered.
His list of regulars seem underwhelming,Lowton,Ward,Barnes ,Hendricks etc but he wrings good performances out of them.Westwood ?
Yes,his football is not pretty but his team is well coached ,and he admits that he can't afford to play open expansive football but it's not Pulisball.
It's the  team effort, the organisation and the improvement he gets from players, mostly down to  coaching and that's the c word that Bruce struggles with.

I thought similar . He's there for continuity and I'm sure he used that in his desperate attempts to stay at helm and now does the thing where he distances himself of responsibility and says it's starting again .

I can see why you see that there are some similar veins.
However Dyche works the best with what he has and also has come from a limited football back ground so he will know have as much a know how as a lampard of the top level game.

Some of his methods are more traditional methods of percentage but he has adapted and used players well to fit in a good system .

I don't think he lets anyone down and Bruce is also that character but alot more older so shown how set in his ways he is .

Dyche anywhere other than Burnley may not work so well but fair play in getting an organized competitive squad together .

They may not be man city or pep guardiola but they sure put up a decent effort.

Of course these days that's not the exact point it's playing attacking football -sexy football .

That's not Bruce or Dyche philosophy so they would be seen as being dated but like Warnock , Pulis too done right then it works tremendously.

They are far more effective than pardew who is faux in what he thinks he can deliver and delivers.

Clubs with different expectations too.  Burnley are punching so far above their weight, whereas Villa still expect teams to fall at our feet.  Dyche and Bruce are very similar though. Burnley are well organised as a club whereas we were really badly managed for years and are now paying for it.

Swap them with no changes to either squad and I suspect we'd be in the mix for promotion and Burnley would be in a relegation battle, and I don't particularly rate Dyche.

I think the this season will be very much like a carbon copy of last season

good runs followed by bad ones
negative type football producing results
tactics by stealth
one or three highlights like the Wolves, blues etc maches
finishing in the play off positions
lots of excuses at every turn

not doing bad enough to get the sack
not good enough to ever have been Villa manager

H&V site split again between those who can see no wrong and those who see no future with Bruce

let the games begin

Burnley had 1 player last season that started 15 or more league games and was over 30, another 1 turned 30 in April. Most of his main players are 25-28. He doesn't seem to go big on youth, but he doesn't go big on old players either. Main thing he seems to do is maximise the resources available to him at Burnley. Whether he could do that at another club, or have his side play more expansive football remains to be seen.
