Focusing on title of thread I think Bruce should be moved on but the timing is far from great.

I also wonder what sort of match will be v West ham as Preston drew 2-2 however I can see them scoring a few goals tonight .

I am torn on the whole thing. Keeping Bruce will not guarantee promotion. We have all seen what  last season and the majority of the season before ended in, failure to get promoted. Yes you can spin that anyway you like, but the fact is we are still in the Championship.

Appointing Henry, also does not mean we will get promoted, nor does it mean we will get relegated. I have often read on here and, talked with friends, for the need to have a bright young manager, that could be Henry.

Every appointment is a risk

I would love a fresh young dynamic forward thinking manager .  I do not want to watch any of Bruce's football no more , he could not get us promoted with the squad he had last season , it was probably the best squad in that league when you look at the Wolves result and yet he failed with his negativity, tactics , subs etc , even games we won I thought how did we fluke that .

his actual permanent signings are
James bree
Birkir Bjarnason
Neil taylor
Scott Hogan
henri Lansbury
Glen Whelan
Ahmed Elmohamady
Conor Hourihane

Some of them did ok at championship level , most of them was just a waste .   would Henry sign this type of player?

No Idea Henry is the answer but I would say he is more young and forward thinking man than SB and time will tell .  Bruce is always a slow starter in the league anyway and he is not getting us up this season.

it is a gamble to change but every manager is a gamble.

It would be a big mistake putting Henry in for Bruce, just getting a world class ex footballer in because of his name is not the answer, just like putting Zola in charge as the noses did, owners who know shit about football again

I think Zola is a good coach to be fair but no way is that shit(players) he had down there ever going to play the football Zola wanted , they would be both on a completely different universe :)

Wolves new owners didn't get it right straightaway. Walter Zenga was hopeless and Lambert rocked up afterwards and did nothing of note. Obviously the Nuno appointment was a masterstroke. Fosun realised Zenga wasn't up to it, and didn't take long to fire him. I get the feeling Henry is a smart coach, certainly the football will be different!

For Fuck sake can people stop making the utterly irrelevant Zola references, the 2 situations are nothing like similar and it's pretty odd that so many Villa fans are so quick to compare us to that pile of shit.

But Thierry Henry? Not only has he got zero personal experience of managing at any level, never mind the Championship, but he's got absolutely no connection with nor affinity for the club. Of course that doesn't have to be a criteria for choosing a manager if it's someone with a proven track record, but Henry doesn't and it's obvious he sees Villa just as a good starting point for his management career which he'll hope will lead to him managing his beloved Arsenal or some Champs League-level club in a few years time.

There may be some advantages to bringing in Henry, mainly that he might (simply by being who he is) make a difference for attracting some players to the club we might not otherwise get, and might also help us keep one or two as well. And hopefully the football might turn out to be more adventurous and attractive. But the Thierry stardust won't last long if he turns out to be no good at the job.

Bold bit - Good, that's what I want. I don't want a manager who's happy to be 'there or thereabouts' in the championship.  I'm still not sure about this but lets apply your login to players, If we had an opportunity to sign a 19 year old striker who has good scout reports and a good reputation and who has spoken repeatedly about playing in the champions league or stick with Fat Ross who would you go for?

Still absolutely nothing to suggest that Henry is replacing Bruce other than Dave woods exclusives daily star article.

No other paper or website has any info or inside knowledge but can only say there is  a known meeting of Bruce having talks with the owners .

What it shows no one knows anything and Daily star picked up idea of Henry being a manager and villa have new investors  invented a romantic story.

Only reinforces my view it's invented rumour and conjecture for me

If I had just sunk a few million into a new business venture I wouldn't be waiting nearly a week before having a meeting with the manager, when there's only a couple of weeks left before the season starts and the transfer window closes. At least not if I intended to keep the guy or even just wanted to get a sense of what he would be like to work with. The only reason why I would delay was if I were getting my ducks in a row first before making a change.

I think the wisdom of this, if true, depends on what kind of manager Henry was employed to be, since it’s such a varied role these days. If it’s a run of the club type appointment then obviously highly risky.

On the other hand if there was a proper structure and Henry was here to raise the profile, attract young signings beyond our current status, pick match day tactics etc. then that’s different.

I suppose a lot will depend on what the owners want out of this season. If it is the groundworks of building for next season, plus a chance of the play-offs, changing manager now would not be too much of an impact. If it is promotion, you still bring in a new manager but of more experience than Henry and have to invest heavily. I do not believe we are in a position to invest heavily due to FFP.

The question is how much sounding out the market the owners have done before the deal and their plan. From the statements to date, the owners would appear to want to build a sustainable future. This means either a new manager or Bruce is holding the baby until a new manager is identified. Either way, I can only see a season of establishment, wish reduces the risk of a change now.
