Henry has zero experience as a manager of a club, doesn't know our players so is a massively bigger gamble than SGT, Tony or Ron. Even i'd probably stick with Bruce if it was a straight choice, that's how big a gamble it is imo.

Is it tomorrow that Bruce is supposedly meeting the new blokes?  He might want to be a bit more convincing with his "there or thereabouts" and "that's the Championship" nonsense.

How many truly outstanding forwards go on to be outstanding managers.

Ron Saunders, Johan Cruyff, Brian Little, Brian Clough, Alex Ferguson, Kenny Dalglish, Jupp Heynckes.

There's a world of difference between keeping Bruce and bringing in Thierry Henry. I'll be honest, I didn't even know he was a coach until he popped up on the Belgium bench when they were playing Panama.

Apparently Wednesday according to press.

How about Henry with Wenger as mentor?

Why Henry? Of all the people in the World what has he done in management to suggest he should be chosen?

It would basically be our version of Blose's Zola appointment but with fewer qualifications for the job.

It amazes me how easily some are impressed just because a big name is linked with us, regardless of his credentials. For such a big club, some of our supporters can be very small-time. Witness the abysmal "John Terry, he's won more than you" cringefest for another example.

I'm far from being for Henry, as I agree that he might be to inexperienced for the role, but, I'm all for thinking outside the box, so to speak.
Who, if SB left, would you, realistically, go for?

I've no idea. I'm out of the loop, I know who manages Villa and Clyde, that's about it. And Danny Lennon is not available for any price.

I'd assume that we would be able to draw up a list of far more exciting options than I could think of, and certainly more qualified options than Henry.

If pushed, I'll say Dyche or Howe. If we are in a position to start from scratch with loads of cash we could probably attract a manager from the division above.

If we are not quite that attractive an option at present then, I dunno. Someone dead amazing please.

Its a huge gamble for us and for Henry if its true. Its safe to say that his ultimate goal is to manage Arsenal, he could of started off at most clubs in France and worked himself up or even gone to Arsenal as a backroom staff member and got promoted within, like the Barcelona model. But to come to us with the players that we have and in the situation that we are in is a huge gamble for him, I honestly can't think off the top of my head who the last manager to leave us for genuinly better things was.

Tommy Docherty eventually and Joe Mercer after a couple of years. The rest have gone downhill or vanished without trace.

Keep yesterday’s man or give Henry a go.  No brainer.

Yes, because if Bruce goes there is nobody else on the planet other than Thierry Henry.

I'm 33 so I'm not really familiar with most things pre-Big Ron, that is a hell of a long time and big list of managers.

It's a gamble either way the way I see it...Gambling on Bruce, who's failed to get us up thus far in (all but) two seasons or gamble on Henry with little experience. We're not getting relegated and given the football I've watched over the last two years i'd rather go for the latter....maybe a step back if we don't get promoted to take a few huge one's forward at the worst.
I've no faith in Bruce getting us up, bringing through the kids or making astute purchases...so why not. New era and all that...the "experienced, been there done it" route hasn't worked..the biggest mistake is persisting with something that doesn't work.

It really shouldn't be a binary choice though. There's a LOT of managers between Bruce and Henry.
