The defeat cannot be attributed just to the goalkeeper but he looked anything but convincing for the 2nd & 3rd Barnsley goals.

The Villa defence had ample opportunity to clear the ball before the 3rd goal.

Clearly, yet again a failure to come to terms with what is required to avoid defeat (never mind winning) a game in the Championship.

Looking like two relegations in two seasons.

Terrific.

We are doing a Leeds/Portsmouth

Two positives tonight - it wasn't as cold as Saturday, and by staying right to the end I missed the traffic - the rest of the evening veered from tragic to almost comical. Again 11 expensively assembled individuals playing against a less expensively assembled team. I said it last week, but there's something rotten at Villa that turns previously good players in this division into poor ones at Villa - and that now seems to extend to the manager as well. Currently the only way we're going to get out of this Division is dropping to the one below. And it's got to the point where it doesn't even hurt any more.

I was right behind the 3rd goal....it was very well place from Bradshaw past a group of defenders. Johnstone had no chance.

I did think though he did seem to dive very slowly for what was a decently placed shot for the 2nd.

He's not great though....every shot on target seems to be flying past him atm although I wouldn't say he's at fault for all of them.

Someone is going to have to explain to me how Gollini is a worse goalkeeper than Sam Johnstone

My brother called me to ask what the f*ck was going on (he lives in London and couldn't get here tonight), and at that precise moment, Bacuna played a pass to Hourihane (I think), who was stood off the pitch. I didn't need to say any more.

I do take issue with the "toxic fanbase" thing I've seen a number of times. At this stage I personally am not asking for anything other than a bit of fight and a lot more work. Of course I want to see us batter teams but I wouldn't care right now if we scored with our first chance and then bored the crap out of everyone for 89 minutes. The players are being barracked not just because they panic, but because nobody can tell what they are supposed to be doing. We get confused by what we're seeing so that frustration is inevitable. Bruce's non-existent tactics don't keep the ball from going in the opposition net but they make it harder to take those rued chances on the chin.

I think we should ban those you tube player montages from now on as they are all clearly fabricated. Hogan is a player from the festival league isn't he? Hourihane has never set foot in Yorkshire let alone Barnsley. The Icelandic chap mended fishing nets before he came to us and the keeper is a paint Sales Rep.

I'm sick to death of all our new signings being constantly so shit as soon as they put the shirt on.

We've taken 2 points from the last 8 league games - that is relegation form in my book and it seems beyond Bruce to change our current trajectory

Having started well, we let the game slip but fortunately we got one back just before the break.  I would have thought Bruce would have seen enough in the last 20 minutes of the half to realise that he had to make a change at the break so that we would take the initiative at the start of the 2nd half.  As it was, more of the same which turned even worse before he made a change.

I watched England play on Saturday and Jones saw that Wales were slightly edging it just after half time as they raised the intensity and he made a strong call to counter it with substitutions earlier than he would have liked to make.  I know it is a different sport but that is strong decisive management.

From now on it's about survival of the club, let alone our league standing.

Agree completely.

Gollini had grown into his position from his early season errors and clearly the defence had more faith in him than Johnstone.

If anything, Johnstone should have come in for Bunn and be backup for Gollini.

Another fuck up!
