Considering Jedi is injured it was either Gardner or the new lads. Unless anyone wanted Westwood in there.

Well that was a big slice of bollocks on toast. We started well for 15 minutes, until they realised Jessica Fletcher was bossing the game. When they marked him, we lost a grip.
It is about time we did something about the midfield. We have, but of course the flipside is, they're gonna need 5-10 games at least, to begin to gel. This is also a game crying out for Jedinak. We're missing him there just to mop up because it seems none of the new three really know who is supposed to be tracking who.
Chester has been usually sloppy. He was so far out of position for the first goal he might as well have been in the North Pole. Hutton has been pish again. I'd personally ease Bree into the side ASAP.

I'd like to see Hourihane get into the game more. He's been very quiet. Does he normally play more to the right? Given he's decidedly left footed, maybe he can move to the left of the three.

Kodjia is making good runs. Trouble is, no one up front is holding onto the ball. I'd like to see JK drop deeper sometimes and run at the back line.
Green has done okay. If we release his pace quicker, he could exploit them on the left, particularly with Amavi backing him up.

Hutton for their second (holds head in hands)

A midfielder should have tracked the runner. Hutton was on another player and had to try and cover.

That's how I saw it too......he's an easy scapegoat
Midfield tracking missing - both sides had their men - center didn't do anyting - Westwood wouldn't have let that pass (as he never would have got out of that position in first place .... sorry poor humor)

What's Westwood doing in Hourihane's shirt?

I suppose it's what you get when you change your whole team mid-season but I'm sure it will get better

Agree the hourihane position is odd. He doesn't look comfortable there

Maybe Bruce thinks he's more likely to score cutting in slightly

Anyway it's not working

Having said all of he above, we've missed two absolute sitters today and it would be a very different game if we hadn't
We are the lowest scoring away team in all 4 divisions. Fucking hell how has that happened?

It's what happens when the owner skimps on forwards
True. When you only spend best part of 40 million on strikers what do you expect in this division?

Jedinak is a big miss in front of the back four. It's like the parting of the Red Sea every time they run at us.

its clear already that Lansbury doesnt like running back towards his own goal, or tracking runners for that matter

to be honest, I thought it was clear was Bruce needed to do around the 20 min mark, move Hourihane left of Lansbury. Its rare Bruce sees those changes though

Chester was at fault for both goals though, Lansbury maybe to take a share of blame, Hutton piss poor as always with the ball but not at fault for the two conceded

Bjarnason has been miles off the pace thus far. Grealish and Bree on please for Hutton and Bjarnason

ASTON VILLA FOOTBALL CLUB have decided to NOT compete in Association Football.

It's quite incredible how this statement always stands the test of time.

It's stupid and us doing our usual shit of buying someone and changing their position to fit in to 4 - 3 fucking 3. Buy them and play them where they had their form for their previous club or don't buy them at all, stop treating it all as fantasy bloody football and 11 names thrown on a team sheet.
