Didnt bruce bring in Mings too?

No that was Smith in Jan 2019

I couldn't remember if it was Bruce or not.

Bruce left us with no defenders! Smith had to bring in Hause and Mings, after earlier convincing Chester to sacrifice his future for us.

Bruce was hit-and-miss in the market but at least he seemed to recruit on character generally which did us some good.
bought in a load of dodgy keepers

Only two to be fair (Nyland and Moriera) and the former had his moments such as Swansea away and Leicester in the league cup semi.  Incidentally, it is the two year anniversary today of Nylands wonder save against Sheffield United.  To this day, I don't know how he stopped it going in.

Wasn't there something about Kalinic being on a pre-contract before Smith came in as well?

As bad and nervy as Nyland was (other than those games mentioned), Kalinic in those few appearances is the single worst keeper I’ve ever seen.
Theres a bloke at work whose family come from Croatia, so he supports them (and Crewe, fair play) and he told me when we got him, he doesnt have the basic attributes to be a keeper. Essentially he can’t kick, he’s too big to get down quickly and he’s not very good at stopping shots. How is he still on our books!!

I think we tried for him in the past but couldn't get a work permit sorted.  Smith definitely signed him.  Not sure if there was a pre-agreement.

I remember that, it was in the relegation season. When he actually joined it was right at the start of the window and I seem to recall there being comments that it had been planned for while.

You have to say, it was worth the wait.

We have a fan for life in Kalinic. Taken care of his future, he'll always look out for our results.

Signing for Derby - surely he's better than League one
