Great stuff, thank you!

I found it a bit jarring to see the team we had out that day, compared to what we have now. Barry, Angel, Vassell, Hitzelsperger, De La Cruz, Dublin, and Sir Graham on the touchline. I'd give my arms for some of that now.

Yet how many of them did we think were 'nowhere near good enough' for Aston Villa at the time. This iwas the 'pig of a season' that had Graham Taylor booed at the end of it.

That was a PNE side that was consistently close to promotion and their fans used to moan like hell about them too, they've been to League One and back since then. One of the things Mr Amfy's always says is to try and appreciate the team you've got, because you never know when you might be looking back on that as good times, and this clip seems to be a really good example of that for us!

After the game I met Mr amfy at the away turnstile singing 'Can we play you every week?' Not something I expect to doing this weekend somehow.

Can't see us winning as we don't score goals, therefore a boring 0 - 0.

My mind has just raced back to the first game of the 1973-74 season and arriving back from a week's family holiday in Weymouth and arriving back in Birmingham around 3.30pm and my mum and dad dropping me off outside VP - so I could maintain my attendance record !  (as a 16 year old - nothing was more important.)

I remember we played them away around January of that season.

Have we played Preston since then - I'm struggling to think of a game between us ?

I was at that match, the goals got progressively better, topped off by a Hitz screamer.

Der Hammer's goal celebrations were great. Arms waving all over the place and a look of shock on his face.

That image does ring a bell but I don't see it in this clip, maybe his last gasp goal at Bolton.

Cheers Amfy, I hope you're well!

And God forbid we ever fall far enough to consider this as the good times! But I take your point. I guess it's in our nature as football fans to always want a little more. I know some friends of mine disagree but I think our club's name carries a weight of expectation too, especially for those of us around 30/40 years of age. Maybe that contributes to that restlessness some of us have as supporters.

I live near Preston and have PNE supporting in-laws. I took my youngest to the away game, and he now thinks PNE are better than Villa. We need to win this one 4-0.

That would be superb.

Wow, great to watch - it really does show how far we've dropped with the talent we had on the squad then.
It makes me very weary of the part of the journey that we're currently on.

Of course i want a Villa win but can't see it Not if Flabby is playing which looks likely I also worry about the returning Robinson and Jonson ,one them is bound to score I will go for a 1-1

Now Lansbury's a done deal, I'm revising my forecast from a tedious 0-0 draw to a how-did-we-create-that-many-chances-and-not-score 0-0 draw.

3-0 Villa.

They're without their key man in midfield. They're very workman like, but we're good at the back and with a touch more attacking quality now in central midfield I fancy to open them.up.

Lansbury to play and score the winner...hopefully the tribute to SGT is fitting too.

Bruce has to try something new today. Playing Gabby just means we play with ten men.

Gamble on RHM. Stick him up top with McCormack behind.
