Ward was in our youth team back in the early 2000s.

We seemed to have mastered playing really badly but still winning.

Earlier on in the season we were playing quite well but not winning.

I'll take the former over the latter for now.

Yep and that's it. You can develop to playing well if you're winning.

Maybe. Not many signs of it so far though. I used to think that under Gregory and O'Neill. But the performances didn't improve and our luck started to run out

Need a good performance v leeds

When are we actually going to start playing well? Can't keep grinding out these wins playing poorly, it will end eventually.

Have to say aswell the extra 10,000 added nothing to the atmosphere which was flatter than a witch's tit. It will have to be a lot better against Leeds or their fans will take the piss for 90 minutes.
I am really worried about that  now that you have told us. I will not turn up on Thursday and hide under a duvet. What can be worse than a team that regularly rolls in about 23K at home taking the piss out of us at VP?.

God, I can't think of anything worse than Leeds fans taking the piss.

How utterly, utterly awful!

Another valuable 3 points but fuck me we dont make it easy, fair play to bunn for that save at the death

The transfer window cant come soon enough with two cm's at the top of the list

our lack of ball retention is a major worry along with a poor shape which hopefully bruce has got a plan for

dirty leeds will be a good test

3 points but that was awful. ..look at us and our resources against Burton Albino. ...Burton  ffs....how low have we sunk.   A home win  in the cup against Barton Arms reserves would be a good result !!!!!

Is Grealish from the bench a deliberate tactic, or does he not yet trust him?

I actually think the move is probably part of the reason we are not getting beaten and equally why we rarely play well.

Well done Bacuna, good run and good play generally for his goal. I hope he can cement that midfield place, I think he's easily one of our better midfielders. I know, I know - damned with faint praise.

To be fair to Bruce this is Bruce doing what Bruce does well. He gets results, especially in this division, but he's never going to have a stylish side in any way, shape or form. You can't argue with his record thus far. What we do need is more control over midfield, which will come with signing sufficient quality. What he really needs is a Huddles-Tonne or a Snodgrass. That bit of quality and consistency in midfield that helps you get a grip and dictate games. Jedinak does his remit well, but we're really devoid of quality in the middle otherwise.

I have to say I've been very pleased with Adomah. What's his assist record now? Must be 1 in 2. He's done well. He works hard too.

A goal will do McCormack good too. He wasn't good by any stretch, but if he nets a couple of goals before Kodjia temporarily departs, it'll be a great help for when he has to lead the line.

It weren't pretty but I'll take that. It will get better but lets not silly with playing expectations in this league. Reading fans call themselves Berkshire-Lona. Lets not get that fucking daft folks. We're going to grind wins. We just now need to dominate more, but the sort of football that will have you stretching the limits of your underwears crotchal elasticity is a long, long frigging way off. That's for the stage of evolution after Bruce, when we're back in the league and have consolidated our place. But lets let him lay the foundations first.

Aye. I will take that. Winners know they are better and just find a way to win against teams they should beat even when they are outplayed. Particularly at home.

I still bear the wounds of being on the receiving end of that from Bruce's old boss. I prefer being on this side of the equation.

Their goal was outstanding technique.

Ward's from Hodge Hill. A good friend's Dad used to coach him and Ikeme I think for a Chemsley Wood youth team in the 90s.

Good player at this level.

You sure it's not Kingshurst? Everyone his age I know from there reckon he's a Kingshurst boy.

Could be...he certainly is from one of those East Birmingham s***holes anyway. ;)

Can't we be happy with a result? I love winning personally. This could go on till the end of time as far as I'm concerned. Let Burton take the moral Mowbery victory.  They can think long and hard about a plucky defeat at Villa Park when they're back in the 3rd division.

It's results that matter. It was the same the last time we used to win a few under O'Neill, who left in 2010, so you'd think people would just be grateful but apparently not. He'll get criticism when he doesn't deliver results and rightly so. Much like O'Neill who struggled to get us winning enough at home.

Really pleased with the win.

Overall thought a draw would have been fair, we were poor and two bits of talent did the damage for us. Two great crosses from Adomah and Ayew, especially the first from Bert.

Kodj and RMC were poor. Especially RMC (sounds strange having scored the winning goal) I watched him closely and his lack of movement and effort at certain times were staggering.

Baker and Chester were excellent again. An ugly win is an ugly win. I'll take another 20 ugly wins!
