QPR v Aston Villa - Pre Match Thread
« on: December 14, 2016, 10:40:10 AM »
Sky Bet Championship
Sunday December 18
Kick-off: 12 noon
Loftus Road

Since some people are already using other threads to suggest lineups, we'd better have a thread

Too early this!
Too early for kick off.
Too early to start a thread after last night.
I really don't know what to make of this match now.

Will add mine in here too;

For Sunday hope Baker is fit then I'd do for;

                Gollini
Bacuna Chester Baker Amavi
        Jedinak Tshibola
               Gardner
Grealish            McCormack
                Kodjia

Sarkic
Cissokho
Gestede
RHM
Hutton
Hale
Ayew

Got to get energy & strength into centre midfield, we started well under Bruce with 3 in centre and need to back to that until he can buy a player to go alongside Jedinak who is better than what we have.  Have included Hale on the bench as the couple of games I've seen him in he seem up for fight, also Lyden not yet fit to include.  Hutton, Cissohko & Ayew get seats by default for me, hopefully all 3 will be gone alongside Westwood & Gabby soon.

When did we last beat QPR at Loftus Road?

Just seems like Selhurst Park a ground we never win at.

1-1.

0-0

We're the third lowest scorers in the league and we just don't do away wins. Add QPR to the list of crap teams in this league we can't beat.

Keeper & back four will be the same as there's no alternatives.
Bacuna did well last time he started in midfield at Reading so put him in with Jedinak and Tishbola, then up front it has to be time to give Hepburn-Murphy his chance.
Pair him up with McCormack or Gestede and leave Grealish in a free role behind them.
Kodjia and Ayew have to be dropped, sold in Ayew's case.
It doesn't give us much width but I don't see how we can play the system we have been playing when we don't have anyone who can play as a lone centre-forward.

I am confident that they will have been given a rocket after last night and we will see a better performance as a result. The team will not the same.

Away win 2-0 and we all have a merry Christmas basking in the reflected glory.

Bruce has said he'll make changes.
I fully expect that Ayew, Grealish, Westwood (aka the Invisible man) Elphick and Agbonlahor will be dropped.

QPR 0 Aston Villa 2 (RHM 67, Grealish 83).

A warrior-like reaction to recent setbacks, 80℅ possession, QPR played off the park, 3 solid points and there's no place like home, there's no place like home, there's no place like home...

Just seems like Selhurst Park a ground we never win at.

1-1.

Nov 1991, 1-0 Yorke scored. Our only other wins there against QPR in about 24 visits were August 1977 and December 1985.

The Football League’s desperate attempt to make us return even a single ticket for an away match takes us to West London on the Sunday before Christmas for yet another TV appearance. This is another ground we’ve been to plenty of times, it’s got no better since the last one and in fact there hasn’t been much change since the first time we went there apart from the prices going up, and up, and up. You still can’t see one of the goals from most of the seats upstairs and you still have to walk halfway round the ground when you find your ticket’s for the other part to the one where you’ve been queuing for the past fifteen minutes. They’ve had an assortment of ultra-rich directors and owners over the years, much good it’s done them, and were guilty of breaking the FFP rules two seasons ago but they still haven’t been punished. Ian Holloway is now their manager and the least said on that publicity-hungry subject the better.

By now the table should start to be looking a bit more realistic and although a draw would be good, this is the sort of place that we should be going to and getting three points if we want to be looking to get promoted. The fact that Ian Holloway will almost certainly be saying something dead controversial and outspoken in the days before the match will make winning even better.

Things newfooty fans won’t know: Why QPR used to be on Match of the Day so often. They also won’t have any idea about how many matches used to be on Match of the Day. It’s a different world now.
