how far have we really sunk to think a game at poxy Tottenham "not won the title since colour TV was invented" Hotspur is a big game?

Well, pains me to say it but thanks to Lerner strangling the life out of the club, we've sunk to the level where we'll be playing Burton Albion in our Boxing Day league game the week before we play Spurs.

Anyway, I've grown to like Spurs away in recent years, drinking in the Irish Centre before and after

I spotted that draw coming as well. Loads of shit left and I turned horrified to the wife and said "oh shit, it's going to be Spurs". The next two balls out.....

I went on the train there for the first time, a couple of seasons ago.

It is a good walk from the station to the ground but there are several pubs en route, obviously, the nearer to the ground you get, the busier they are.  It made a change from approaching the ground from the opposite direction, it almost felt like a new ground.  I think I preferred the train to coaches, if anyone is in two minds.

Every day of the week and twice on a Sunday. There's plenty of pubs around the Square Mile (albeit most will be closed at the weekend) pre-getting the train from Liverpool Street, a couple en route at Stoke Newington/London Fields and then a five minute walk from White Hart Lane station.

Crikey Dave.  I'm almost tempted to go and I'm the biggest apathy when it comes to the 3rd round.  When i went, I'm sure the station was Seven Sisters, which seemed like a 2 mile walk to the ground (jumped on the bus back afterwards)

That's the nearest tube. You can get an overground from Liverpool Street to White Hart Lane station which is a couple of mins walk to the ground. There's usually a big queue after the game (which is why we usually go to the irish Centre for a few - I say few, we were still there at chucking out time a couple of years ago) but it goes down quite quickly. Not as bad as the queue for the underground at Upton Park. Seven Sisters is a fair hike from the ground.

When I went, I walked from Seven Sisters in torrential rain. It ruined the Sid Vicious haircut I was rocking at the time and I had hundreds of Tottenham fans singing "sort yer mallet aat" at me when I was standing to shout at the referee.

The queue or the beer? ;)

Yes, I agree the Haringey Irish Centre is very welcoming; they serve breakfast whatever time the k.o. is.

It used to be loosely segregated, Spurs fans in one half, away fans in the other. Last year they changed the sections over and we'd been drinking in there for over an hour before we noticed that we were in the middle of dozens of Spurs fans. Friendly bunch though. Shame that last season it was a Monday night and the atmosphere wasn't as good as usual

Hardly a surprise as they always like showing small clubs at home to big clubs.
