This is 51st season of waiting to see us win this (it's still got all its old magic for me).  However, despite this weekend's blip  I still think we've got every chance of getting back to the big time as well.

Every season, I think of a valid reason why it's our year - this year it's purely because it's 60 years ago since we won it - as well as me being 60 as well next year, it was also 60 years before that when we won it as part of our double win - if I'd been around 60 years ago, as well as winning it, I would've taken great delight in first winning it and secondly stopping Man. Utd doing the double (and of course it was the pre Munich man. utd.)

Promotion or an FA Cup win?

For me this season I'd take winning the FA cup - then I will have the 'full house' in my lifetime. I'm quite enjoying this season out the premier league and could cope with another season out just to see us win games and score goals and bring the excitement and enjoyment back.
Ultimately Villa have to be back in the PL though.

Winning the FA Cup could be easier than getting promotion this season. Not only will we have to win more games to get into the playoff positions and stay there, but we'll need to win a playoff final with arguably much more at stake than a bit of silverware. True, we won't have to play any PL sides to get promotion, but who knows how the draw will go in the cup? I'd be happy with anything to celebrate to be honest, but I think we'll have to wait a while for that.

As a fan, winning the FA Cup is far more important than getting back into the Money League. A few good draws and a couple of decent performances can be enough to win it - 736 of the 808 teams who entered are already out.
Port Vale away to start with then let's see who's left.

No point going up until we're good enough to play at that level, rather than just spend a season trying to stop other teams playing and boring our way to survival.

A giant killing, factually correct?

A team beating another from a higher division is usually described as an upset at least.

If either us or Newcastle were to beat a decent premier league team at least one paper would print it like that.

The FA Cup continues to be the only trophy that matters. Anybody side isn't likely to get us picked for the telly, please.

Cup every time(untill we win it again)
