I agree with that, but under Steve Bruce there are signs for optimism. When we played Fulham we had just come off our first away win for 14 months at Reading, and you could hear a pin drop it was that quiet. Maybe it will take time for the fans to really start believing again. I do think we're guilty of always waiting for the players to lift us though, rather than the other way round.

It's like that at most home grounds you go to. Home fans being quiet is not exclusive to us.

Spot on. Just go to Liverpool and you'll hear that once they've sang that You'll Never Walk Alone dirge the place goes to sleep till they score a goal. Practically every club's the same, and it's left to the away fans to create an atmosphere and bring the home fans to life.
