Link to  the goal:

A comments on that link refers to the goal being similar to Tony Daley's against Everton in 1988 which is exactly what I thought at the time. One of my all tine favourite Villa goals.

What's funny is it was exactly 28 years ago to the day. 22nd October, 1988.

We had 34% possession, 16 shots, 7 on target. Fulham 66%, 5 shots, 0 target.

Just watched the extended highlights and for having less than 40% of the possession we looked to have 5 or 6 really good chances. I didn't see a single thing created by Fulham with the exception of a few short crosses.

Ross's footwork that led to Ayew's late breakaway was max tekkers. We should've won that game by at least three.

Did we really have 34pc possession? Seems unlikely

33.6% according to Sky. The 34% was the Beeb.

That's about the percentage that Leicester won the title last year. I'll take that. The only stat that counts is up in the left hand corner of the TV for each game

Zero shots on goal for them, Bruce has got us us tight as a drum already.
We did not have many either. In truth, it was a dire affair which was lit up by a brilliant goal.
In truth we had 16 shots with 7 on targets.

Couldn't make it today, but just wondering how Gardner played. I see Steve kept him on for the full 90 mins.

Dynamic performance, kept himself involved all game though some of his decision making was a bit suspect. He broke through and had a great chance to put us ahead at one point but chose to cut back instead of shooting. Must have been a confidence thing.
Yes that's how I assessed Gardner as well. More confidence better choices and a left foot and we may have a decent midfielder  in there.

No, that was back-to-back but not in the same week...both saturdays wins. PWS nailed it I think.

The goal - would some refs have been tempted to blow for high foot?  Particularly if the defender hadn't wimped out?

Lovely finish though and could have been 2 or 3.  Winning two games in a row - great isn't it?

Delighted and no nitpicking from me this evening. Two consecutive wins and a much more positive, organised team, all from a manager who currently can only deal with what he's got. Well done Mr Bruce.
