Great stuff. I am pleased to have been utterly wrong about the line up and in particular Gary Gardner. Good job all around!

That Reading cross/shot at end through Amavi's legs, miracle how it didn't end up in net.

Hope we never seen that 11 again, it was like a side Eric Black would pick

History written by winners etc

For those at the game, what ratings would you give to the players?

I don't know about the team. We were tactically set up to do a job, it'll need to change for a home game.

Steve Bruce has arrived

I realised at the final whistle last night, amidst the wild scenes, that Bruce's name wasn't mentioned once in any chants throughout the game. I could be wrong, but if it was I didn't hear it.

Good to have the place back and like others have already said, thanks Martin for all the hard work.

Haven't seen the game apart from the highlights so it's hard to comment on the performance really but if the commentary was anything to go by, we seemed to have a game plan which was working until Cissokho put his foot in it again. Let's hope this gives us the confidence to go on a run.

I really don't understand why Cissokho did that when there was no need.at all.

Yes, thank you Martin.  My son and I agreed that communication via H and V is essential for a game like that to sink in. That level of release has to be shared.

I didn't absorb the result truly until I got into work (with a swagger) and the first person said "good win at last!" - then it was REAL!

Nice of Hutton to track their scorer into the box from the pen save......

I'm sure we will all take the win and hopefully a big confidence boost. Tactically Bruce saw our previous issues and played a three man midfield. Also set up to save energy so we didn't run out is steam second half. Bring big players on towards the end to grab the win. Great stuff. Will be interesting to see how we set up on Saturday. Credit to Gollini who played well and to be fair the Jed saw us over the line towards the end of the game.

I think we have discovered the secret. It's ignoring the fact that it's an away match and putting Villa  first in the Match thread😊

It feels a bit like some Earth shattering disaster has happened and everyone has died whenever H&V goes down. It's just horrible😥
