There's no reason why we couldn't have all the Railway End and be adequately policed.

We had the whole of the Railway for that midweek cup game in 2010 and it all kicked off at the end so can understand why WMP get nervous but usually lunchtimes a bit easier to control.

Since there's only been four away league matches played so far, it looks like they've changed the system from previous years. It used to be that a game had to actually have been played before it counted for booking priority. Now it reads as tickets ordered

WEst Mids Police's way of coping with any potential problem is by stopping people going. Most football matches they have bugger all to do and when a game comes along that might create a little bit more work for them this is how they avoid it.

If they just acted and dealt with people who stepped out of line when it happened instead of just releasing images 6 months later for the public could do their work for them, maybe good law abiding fans could watch football when they want to.

They've already spoilt this fixture by insisting on ridiculous Sunday lunchtime kick-offs, now they want to stop people going as well.

Police forces up and down the country can cope with derbies, ours can't. And don't try and tell me ours is any worse than others, that's crap.

Completely agree, 1000 Villa fans are missing out on going to this due to WM Police's lazy attitude. Then 1000 Heathens will miss the trip to VP for the same reason.

Tinpot force when it comes to football, how can they not police 3k away fans just because it's a derby FFS. Pretty sure this doesn't happen for Newcastle/Sunderland, Everton/Liverpool, London derbies etc.

It kicked off at the end because the 'Noses invaded the pitch, which they would've done regardless how many Villa fans were in the ground.

Not having the visiting fans exiting straight out onto the Coventry Road amongst all the home fans might help avoid trouble as well, as pointed out by DW some years ago, when we had the corner of the Tilton terrace, the two sets of fans were easier to keep apart while they dispersed.

Having had lots of dealings with senior police within West mids (professionally not criminally -:) ) what was interesting was that Aston they told me was used as a proving ground for up and coming senior cops, who a few were good, some were useless and at least one was plain criminal... but they all had one thing in common, No knowledge of football  as usually rugby was there sport and there attitude to football was like most who follow that sport exclusively.

Their attitudes  were in the whole formed by events they were told about in the 1980's and so had no interest in dealing with modern attitudes. I have become more distrusting of the lot of them  which is not helped by them (west Mids police) videoing us both home and away (member of the away scheme) constantly for the purpose of which they tell me is my protection

The capacity for the West Midlands derby between Birmingham City and Aston Villa on Sunday, 30 October has been limited to 25,000 on safety grounds.

The Championship match - the first second-tier meeting between the rivals since 1987 - is a 12:00 GMT kick-off.

The full capacity at St Andrew's is 30,016 but will be reduced by a sixth.

A statement on Blues' website said: "The decision has been agreed after consultation between West Midlands Police and the club's safety team."
