Welcome Steve - what does a Technical Director actually do?

I'd like to know too.  You have De Mateo picking the team and the system or systems and Clarke implementing that on the training ground.  Is the TD just there to make sure the manager and assistant do what they are supposed to be doing?

My guess is ensuring that manager has the tools to do his job; aiming to provide pioneering training facilities, a constant supply of quality youth players, a scouting network to fill any gaps.

Whether he is the right chap is another question but the role would still be required even after this appointment so he might be.

"This role will play a fundamental part in how we drive the football club forward with data and technologies playing a central role in how we not only scout new players but also make the best of the talent we have at Bodymoor Heath both at first-team level and throughout our academy teams."
