Thought he had a lively debut.  Seems to have good pace and movement.  Maybe his finishing could be sharper.  But so far it looks like he can make a difference.  Its just about RDM getting the right balance up front.  I wouldn't mind seeing him play a front two.  Certainly don't want to see Ross play anywhere else except up front.

I agree he might be better in a proper two - though it does have implications for all those players who want to play between the lines in a 4231.

At this level, being a bit more direct and getting physical in the box seems to pay dividends - some of the defending you see on the channel 5 highlights programme is so bad that we could prosper just by getting it into the mixer a bit more

He reminds me of Kanu the Arsenal dude.  Slightly gangly, occasionally clumsy but capable of some sublime skills.

He's quicker than Kanu thankfully.

Kanu still looked pretty decent in an Arsenal legends game last week. Not bad for a 64 year old.

Was his elder brother, Yakubu playing?

Kanu was a superb player, part of the excellent Nigeria side in 94 who were incredibly unlucky to win their group only to face Italy in the next round. I reckon they'd have gone on to the semis if they'd have faced a 'realistic' 3 placed side.

Did he really play much in that tournament? I seem to remember that team as being Amokachi / Yekini / Finidi George, with Kanu arriving on the scene a few years later.

Me too. It's strange looking forward to seeing a Villa player and a game of football.

Oh ok, makes sense, I remember watching him at a world cup and I remember loving Nigeria in 94 so I've muddled the 2 together.

Yup, they were definitely loads of fun in both tournaments.

That '98 game against Spain with great Raul and Oliseh goals and a terrible Zubizareta own goal seems to be printed on my memory for some unknown reason.
