He'd be very much at home in the Hutt's palace

Ha.  Does that make laughing boy Richards Salacious Crumb?

Looks Gestede lite with the ball at his feet although he did have a lovely run at 2-1 up in the corner by the Holte.

Unlucky not to score with the header first half.

Gestede lite?

Even if that were right, which it isn't, Gestede has morphed into Messi/Ronaldo/Pele this season, so it's alright by me.

Gestede lite?

Yeh I didn't get that either. Kodjia is a very decent step up from Gestede and Rudy's doing very well this season.

He looked uncomfortable dribbling with the ball imo, y'know like Rudy does against any decent defence.

That said he was unlucky to score with a few headers.

He turned them inside out 3 or 4 times when dribbling?? Liked what I saw, another day he scores twice today.  At least his efforts required saving!

Gestede lite?
.

Nonsense. He got in behind. He had good movement. He took people on. He did that lovely touch on the break

I thought he was excellent today, and deserved a goal for his performance. I like him!

It was me who said it, not Ads.

I wasn't blown away like other forwards have on their debuts although suppose I have to remind myself the level we now operate at.

He'll score goals for us no doubt but I suppose the issue here is I look at how far a player can step up e.g. in the early games you could see Gestede was very limited beyond heading the ball and so it proved.

Fair enough

I was pleasantly surprised though. I thought he might be mostly a poacher

I thought he looked exactly the sort of player we need.

I agree. A far more impressive debut than McCormack's for example.

He has a great jump on him, wants to get involved, has good pace, at last, a forward with pace. A beast in the making I hope.

Benteke, Baros, Phillips, Gestede, Bent, Carew?

In fairness when you look at it we've had a look of forwards who have had excellent debuts rather than shockers like JPA did.

Couple of those were excellent strikers for us, others were best forgotten...
