Kodija and Adomah should provide us with some much needed pace, McCormack, Grealish and Ayew should benefit hugely from this.

We need to find the right blend without leaving us too exposed. But I agree, more pace up top should really give grealish and McCormack a lot more space between the lines. I think those two - as well as ayew - are technically way better than 99% of players in this league

But the midfield two or three will have to really work hard to give them a platform.

It's a laughable comparison, but I'm thinking early arsene Wenger arsenal as a template. It would be a poor man's version but the compassion would be:

Jedinak as petit
Tshibola as vieira
Grealish as pires
Ayew / adomah as ljungberg / parlour (although there's a case for more of a worker than a forward here to give better balance perhaps)
McCormack as bergkamp
And, ahem, kodjia as Henry / Anelka

Kodija, Adomah and McCormack, De Laet and Tshibola are all likely to smash the Clarke record this season.

Like that you mean?  :P

Thank God we didn't sign Assombalonga.

They did that song "Tubthumping" I think.

You mean Chumblywumbly.

Bacuna is probably closer to fit to Ljungberg/Parlour.  I'm slightly worried that to play all of our new signings we're going to be woefully undermanned defensively or asking players to play out of position (Grealish in the 2 of the 4231?).

To be fair you did say it was a laughable comparison, but good grief, that doesn't really stand up to any sort of scrutiny does it?!

I did say it was laughable! But in terms of shape, and given we're a league down, I do think we could be looking to set up that way.

Risso - I think it is a fair comparison in terms of the shape and possible tactics of the team.

I think Risso is trying to reconcile the comparison between one of the best ever champions of the top flight of English football with a team that is sat in bottom half of the championship on the back of a humiliating relegation. It's a little challenging to contemplate.

In the same way I can be compared to George Clooney as we both have 2 legs, 2 arms and a hole in our arse.
