Once everyone gels I hope we are a force to be reckoned with. Goals flying in, left right and centre...

OR

It could be them hanging around the opposition goal without service because westwood is pointing to where the ball should have gone.

Never heard of him, but by all accounts he's quite handy, so we're looking pretty tasty up front now.

Still worried about the midfield, though.

twice the price Benteke cost us, price paid appears mental and I doubt he was anywhere near first choice.

Desperately needed a front man though and appears we got our pants pulled down on the price as a result.

No excuses I'm afraid, 25m plus on McCormack/Kodija

And many times more than what we signed Yorke for.

Prices are x2 last season, and x2 again this summer.

Hmm...not sure. I think we're just getting used to another step up in transfer fees/wages. It's often a bit shocking when it first happens.

I remember when my mate couldn't believe Shearer going for £15m. He asked me 'do you think Villa will ever pay that much for a player?'

I said yes, when other clubs are paying about £30m for them.

I wasn't far out.

I thought Gardener was the new Clarke, but I suspect it will be Kodija

I suggest Kodjia will be more Garry Thompson than Benteke in this division. And that's not a bad thing at all.

Kodija and Adomah should provide us with some much needed pace, McCormack, Grealish and Ayew should benefit hugely from this.

Kodjia, Adomah and McCormack, De Laet and Tshibola are all likely to smash the Clarke record this season.

Thank God we didn't sign Assombalonga.
