That line up kind of screams, 'Meet the new Villa, same as the old Villa' to me. Early days though, and I just hope we can nick a one-nil, or at least a point.

To an extent. 3 new players in key areas from last season. I think we'd all like to have seen that dominant midfielder in by now but it's a marathon not a sprint. The season won't be defined on today's result.

True, it's just going to take a little while longer and some positive results before I can see the names of Hutton, Cissokho, Bacuna, Westwood, Gestede, etc. and not get filled by loathing and dread.

Ross to score within 2 mins, because the doctor ordered that

I have less of an issue with the midfield than most but those fullbacks upset me greatly, neither offer anything going forward and both have a defensive lapse in them.

Getting Amavi fit and a new right back are things we are in desperate need for.

Cissokho at left back ahead of Amavi?  No room for either Tshibola or Grealish in a midfield comprising Gardner, Bacuna and Westwood?  Seriously?  And where's Traore?  Terrible line up.  Just seeing that team selection brings in to stark relief the work that has still to be done to turn us into a competitive team even at this level imho. Jesus.

Dean Saunders has just said 'bigger clubs than Villa have sunk to to the bottom of this league'...

Who?

Why do people come out with this kind of nonsense?

Saunders....sigh.

Very surprised to see Grealish on bench, thought RDM would have been building the team around him. Amavi may be not 100% fit yet.

Will be interesting to see how our front three get on. Disappointing to have the likes of Hutton, Cissokho, Bacuna and Richards anywhere near a Villa 18.

Holloway saying he's been expecting us to get McCormack for the last couple of weeks. And there was me thinking he said Norwich would get him last week. Half arsed manager who used to be famous

Amavi has only played about 20 mins in preseason after a lengthy lay off and Traore is back in light training.

yep, I hope Amavi gets 30-35 minutes here and then I'd love to see a similar player come in on the other side.  I honestly believe that fullbacks are fundamental to being a good side and we have neglected the positions for years.

It's Waterford 0-13 and Kilkenny 0-12 at HT in the hurling.
