1 Aston Villa (c)
2 Brighton (P)
3 Newcastle
4 Nottingham Forest (P)
5 Derby County
6 Leeds United

Relegated Burton Albion, Birmingham City, Fulham

Newcastle to miss out on the last day of the season, only to be dumped out in the playoffs with a Clark own goal. Forest to beat Derby in the play off final, where Pearson gets arrested for trying to strangle the ref. Villa to be Champions overtaking West Brom, Stoke and Leicester who get relegated as the natural order of midlands football is restored in one magnificent season.

Oh and I forgot to mention us beating West Ham in the FA cup final, sealing victory in injury time with a last second overhead bicycle kick from Gollini.

Amazed by the number of pundits predicting us to come below Blues.

It's actually ridiculous how anyone being paid to offer expert advice can predict that and still have a job. The editor should be sending them running from the office avoiding the hurled teacup whilst trying to hold on to their P45.

Reality has just kicked in. I'm sat watching the warm up for the first championship game of the season excited. Never gave it the slightest thought before

I see Fulham lead by three points.
I see Newcastle are clearly bottom on goal difference.
Good enough to date.

Based on the form of the clubs that finished in the top 6 last season, there's no messing about. Four of the top six were right there nearly from the beginning. Here's a chart that I did this morning mapping the changes in their places from week 5 (left) to the final day (right)

Looks like Villa are going to have to do whatever Derby & Wednesday did last season to climb into the Top 6 this season.

Yeah, but if you look at that Burnley meandered around 5th until after Christmas.  As long as we are not 20 points off it by that point, there is still every chance of going up automatically even though that feels a long way off from where we are at the moment.  We've still got more than an entire Premier League season's worth of fixtures left, having started with pretty much an entirely new side.

It's not been a great start, but I haven't seen anything yet that makes me think once the side gels that they couldn't go on a decent unbeaten run. Do that and you'll fly up this league.

Also, it would be interesting to see what happened to all of the clubs who were in the Top 6 after 7 games because they are not all there.  I'm guessing a couple of team that got off to flyers last year soon plumetted (e.g. the Sty Dwellers).

Didn't Derby sack their manager?
