Messi every time for me,  a better all round football player than Ronaldo, a better team player and his own goals to games ratio is none too shabby.

We are blessed with having two of the greatest players of all time around at the same time.

Ronaldo all day.

Done it in the Premiership when younger and less savvy, and won a major tournament with an average Portugal team.

Messi is the better of the two. His ability on the ball, close control, change of direction and vision are far superior to Ronaldo and he is a player who has the ability to make something out of nothing on completely on his own. As for Ronaldo having played in the premiership, that proves nothing. He was fortunate to go to a club where the manager believed in bringing youth through.

He still had to do it against seasoned pros and the one season scored over 40 goals. It proves categorically that he is a brilliant player and has been for a very long time.

No one doubts that he is a brilliant player.

He's just not as brilliant as Messi.

And a massive wanker.

We'd all behave the same way if we looked and played football like he did. His philanthropic work I think speaks far more about his character than the way he conducts himself on the football pitch.

I get why people don't like him for his vanity, arrogance, self adulation, need for validation. But for me it doesn't make him a wanker. I reserve wanker for the likes of Joey Barton. Ronaldo is never in trouble in public, does charity work, and is an incredible professional which almost every footballer could learn from.

Both are great players, both have their failings .Despite being uber wealthy they are tax dodgers in one of Europe's poorer countries. Ronaldo paying a female to have his baby then clear off is hardly the stuff of saintdom
Is there anyone out there in football that I can truly get my children to aspire too ?

Messi would not cause the same damage in The premiership, Ronald has and that was when he was a lot younger.

Ronaldo also has leadership qualities that I would look up to.

Ronaldo all day.

I'd go for Messi on the basis that I enjoy watching him play, whereas Ronaldo makes me want to hurl my coffee table through the telly. I can't bear to watch the preening tit. Surely that has to count for something in this debate.

if a computer designed the perfect physique for a footballer it would look a lot like Ronaldo in fact it might be Ronaldo so he as born with a natural advantage to be great
it certainly wouldn't look like Messi who has had to overcome natural disadvantages
these are things neither can do anything about but Messi has become one of the greatest footballers ever maybe even the greatest against the odds

Messi for me,
and not just because of the above comments, but whilst Ronaldo is one of the all time greats Messi is a footballing Genius along with that other fella from Argentina

Why would you possibly think that? Sanchez could hardly get in the Barcelona team and has come over and been one of the best players in the league. If Messi came over he'd be fantastic.

As I could pretty much be guaranteed to hate whichever side he signed for, I hope he never does.
