I hope Reading go up, they finished clear third.
I'm not a great fan of the play-offs and hope we never need to bother with them. More advantage should be given to the team that finishes third.
My suggestion would be that the team that finishes third goes straight to the final, and the other three should play one off games with higher placed team having home advantage.
So...
QF - 5th v 6th
SF - 4th v winner of 5th v 6th
Final - 3rd v SF winner

That's a great idea but will never happen as its 2 less games for EFL exposure.

I'd expect Wednesday to beat Uddersfield and Reading in the final, even my Reading supporting neighbours don't think they'll make it and this season has been a fluke.

Well what the fuck do I know. I hope Reading win now.

I think that's a bit how it works in the lower leagues in Scotland.

Two of the three going up had foreign managers in their first full season in the Championship.
All three teams going up by playing entertaining positive football.

This time last year the general concensus was that a successful manager had to be experienced in the Championship.

The answer is they just have to be good and adaptable to suit the situation in the given season. Good to me is being tactically aware, being able to coach and being able to communicate with the players.

Do the players today react to 'old school'?

I'd like Huddersfield to go up, well run club, do a lot of work in the community and early supporters of my brother's charity. Plus, they're not reading.

I'm already planning on going Bramall Lane and the Crucible next year, so wouldn't have minded missing another trip to Sheffield in favour of Huddersfield, a ground I haven't been to.

Hopefully Reading win the Final, no particular interest in going there again.

Penalties is no way to settle a game that defines a whole season.  If the semi final or final is level after extra time, the aggregate scores from the two league  games during the season should settle it.  That way, no poor sod has to carry the responsibility for the whole team and extra time would be more interesting as one team may really have to go for it.

All wrong playoffs.

Surely a team that finishes 6th would never be strong enough for the higher division

Also as seen teams resting players when qualified for these games have caused issues

If you reduced the playoffs to one leg, with the team which finished higher playing at home, you'd make it less likely that teams would be resting players.

What if both league games were 1-1 draws?

Then Aston Villa are put through instead.  Seems fair to me

Surely performance over the whole season would be a fairer way to settle draws then head to head on the basis of two games?

The Italian Serie B has it so that the team which finished higher progresses in the event of a drawn tie.

I still prefer the excitement of penalties, though.
