I see Messi scored for Argentina last night. He's worse at retiring than Nigel Farage!

That is a strange one.  They blamed the loss of three finals on him, he retires.  They then beg him to come back, build a statue of him, so he comes back.  Then when he's back they accuse him of deceiving the Argentine public.  Make your mind up lads.

I know. It's not as though Messi has form for deception.
Messi won't do anything taxing.

Yay, just switched it on and had to do a double take. I remember Mazrim once of this parish constantly eulogising about him being destined for greatness. Ah well, we can file under 'best days were at Villa'.

Didn't do anything at Coventry or Blackpool and has now landed at Swindon.  From what I saw did not make much of an impression on the match.

I also thought that, as a youngster, he had a good career in front of him, particularly if played alongside a big centre forward.  Alas another one who just drifted away on the breeze.

I remember the Fonz in one of his last appearances for us, played in a dull draw and at the end had a fizzing shot that clipped the top of the bar - thought then that of it had gone in he might have stepped up but just faded away after that...

Brighton in the FA Cup (third round?) a few years back, danced through a few players and smacked a shot against the bar from thirty yards. Goes in, might start the next dozen games, scores a few and becomes the next one that Man City deign to throw millions at us for.

Or it's harmlessly cleared, he has a few more substitute appearances and drops through the leagues, and the next we hear is that he's scoring forty a season for Coventry Sphinx in three years time.

I thought he'd do ok in the lower leagues, like Byfield.

if the 30 yarder at St Andrews in the 1-1 had been an inch lower it may have been a bit different for him.

I was going to say how long before Hoddle says "2 v 1" - three minutes in and it's "3 v 3". Not long til the "midfield diamond"

With Rooney, Dier and Henderson as the midfield trio Sam really has gone for it!
