The capacity only fell to 30 odd thousand after the Taylor Report. They're a nothing club dining out on a London post code.
And we had 46K for a game in '88 despite averaging 18K. We've pulled bigger crowds in division 3 than they've ever had. Which is a bit of a difference to never having that kind of support and suddenly selling over 50K season tickets.
We played bcfc in 88 and didn't get 20k.

It was the league cup. We got 8K in the Simod Cup against them the same season. Our highest attendance that season was 41K. What was West Ham's?
Might stay up for a bit and see if Fiji can keep their opening Olympic game respectable.
Just over 30k, but it was a full house.
And it was so small because there was never the need for it to bigger as they've never had the support. Which is my point.
I can't be arsed digging out old Rothman's to check each year but i'd bet all the years it held 40K+ they probably had 40K once in a blue moon. And that would be thanks to a big away support like cup games or derbys. Now all of a sudden they have over 50K ST holders, which I think is the 2nd highest number of ST holders in the country as Arsenal have 45K iirc back to ticket talk for the cup final.

With that rationale, if we had a 70k stadium would we fill it? I doubt it. VILLA TILL I DIE.
Green Army!!!
Couple of tidy finishes for Bromsgrove at Halesown on Tuesday.
As for West Ham - if you build it they will come. But at the risk of sounding like our former manager tourists can be very 'fickle'. For what it is worth I personally felt that Upton Park was the most intimidating away ground in England.
Admittedly the old Den wasn't exactly a barrel of laughs either.
I heard the radio reports calling it "West Ham's new stadium". It doesn't belong to them, it belongs to the people of this country and if you ever needed a demonstration of how fucked up our wonderful nation is, then there is no better example. A hypocritical legacy of the Olympic Games as the Baroness sits in the House Of Lords, voting to plunge the poor even further into poverty while decrying the welfare state and waltzing into the gift from the nation like a queen with her poisonous acolytes, as the media line up to fawn and praise.
Meanwhile the kids get fatter, the playing fields close and the cameras at the cricket match outnumber the spectators.

Don't forget we are talking about the same people who tried to bully the powers that be in Birmingham to build them a new bigger council house for the Small Heath carthorses for years.
What's the over/under on the time before they sell West Ham?
Alternatively, I suppose they could just milk the cash cow that they now have
Fulham for me tonight, no brainer.
