Not sure how, the Pitney End only holds 5500.

Most likely bollocks then, or it's based on ludicrous claims of Geordies in the home end as we were all so terrified of when we last played them...

The capacity of the Putney End is 7000. Newcastle have sold out 2800 and will obviously have most of the neutral aswell, like all teams with good away followings will this season. They will have probably 5000+ there tomorrow, there will be a lot of London based Newcastle fans in the neutral bit, it's not like 5000+ are travelling down from Newcastle.

We play them in our penultimate away game, if we're near the top of the league we'll have 6000+.

Good win for the Hammers in their new home.  Actually galling to see them finally in it and filling it, it's an incredible leg up for them.  Could well move them above Spurs in the London pecking order for now.

Spurs will be coining it though with the CL games at Wembley. And there's talk they'll use Wembley for every game next season when WHL becomes unusable until they move into the biggest club ground in London.

I was really hoping that the Spammers debut in the Taxpayers Stadium would end in abject defeat.

Is that wrong of me?

Nope. I'm hoping they get relegated and the 30,000 'fans' they've never had before vanish leaving them playing in front of 20K as they play Rotherham in a division 2 midtable game.

Sounds too much like us for my liking.

Apart from us never having 30K fans appear from nowhere, we play Rotherham on a Saturday and will have around 30K it's exactly like us ;)

Okay in reality it's nearer 20K but for a club with a previous record attendance of 42K with a shitload of away fans for a London derby it's a lot of people coming from nowhere buying 50K season tickets.

Theyre a very popular "cockney club" down that way, restricted by the shit hole they played in.
Average attendance wise over the last 30 years I would think there wouldn't be much difference.

Until the last decade it varied between 18K and 26K for 20 years.

In 1986 our average att was just over 15k, not sticking up for them at all, but I'm going to check it out.

And we had 46K for a game in '88 despite averaging 18K. We've pulled bigger crowds in division 3 than they've ever had. Which is a bit of a difference to never having that kind of support and suddenly selling over 50K season tickets.

Ground permitting, that's my point really, don't want to fall out.
