Never been good enough, never will be.

That's not really the point, is it? Let's say Chester gets injured with 15 minutes to go and the game is 1-1. Do you really fancy Bree moving into centre-half ahead of Elphick?

Elphick has mistakes in him but he's not liable to completely fall apart, which is what will happen to someone who not only is not a centre-half by trade, but hasn't been played full stop for god knows how long, not even in his native position.

I thought when he covered for Terry he looked solid. Maybe if we run out of centre backs we'll throw caution to the wind and do the inverse of rafa's 10-0-0 formation?

He looked ok when covering for Terry , overall he hadn't been great how ever it was pretty clear early on Bruce didn't rate him so that was hardly going to help his performance levels ..

I’m gobsmacked that he’s allowed to leave if we have no one coming in.

I genuinely think he will use Bree there now after tuesday.  Would Tommy be a big earner?

I don't really rate Elphick, but letting a centre-half go when we are desperately short of centre-halves is fucking stupid. Plus he played quite well at Burton. Jedinak plays badly every time he's selected there and is first name on the team sheet.

How is it possible to spend tens of millions of pounds more than anyone else and still be having to play a midfielder at centre-half, and to have no reliable back up at centre-half, left-back or up front?

So he goes for a 20 year old french centre half, who decides its not time to leave France yet and turns us down.
He then decides I know we can afford to let one of our only two properly recognised centre halves on loan.
Thus leaving us really short at the back.
He must be losing the plot! Or he has a cunning plan!

I am guessing Tuanzebe will be centre back cover with Elmo at RB. Not perfect but neither is it the worst.

If that's the case he needs to start giving him game time there and the Burton game was surely the perfect opportunity.

It is difficult to fathom this whatever way you look at it.
