Ball persons at VP; recruitment
« on: June 07, 2016, 06:54:19 PM »
Aston Villa have announced trials for ball assistants for the 2016/2017 season.

Volunteers are needed for home games and the club have revealed how people can go about applying.

Here is all you need to know...

* You must be aged between 14 and 15 (in school years 10 or 11 on September 1, 2016) - No applicants will be accepted outside this age range.

* Trials will be held at the Indoor Academy at Villa Park on Tuesday June 14 2016 from 6pm to 7.30 pm

* An induction for successful candidates will be on Tuesday June 21 2016

* There will be a test for trialists and they must be fit and able to demonstrate speed, agility and throwing skills.

* Parents/guardians must attend the trial with their son or daughter.

I fancy this as a retirement volunteer gig. Not that I have retired yet, but this could convince me.
The age requirement is a bit of a hurdle.
But my mother (82) is prepared to attend.

Come on, Villa! Equal opps!

Best of luck Lou. It's good to see you younger folk getting on on life.

How Ageist is that.
Surely this is discrimination.

14-15? Why so stringent? 10 and 3/4 to 16 surely fairer.

Always feel a bit sorry for them when they have to field balls during the warm ups.  If there is one thing worse than being hit by a football travelling at a great velocity, it is being hit by a football travelling at a great velocity in front of thousands of people.  Who subsequently start laughing at you.

I must admit I was thinking of that inspired throw in!

Not so much age, more, the opportunity!

In one warm up with Tonev a ball boy went to retrieve the shot and has not been since
