Never once heard him which seems like a blessing from reactions. Good luck to him.

Agree with some of the comments about him but. As others have said, a good guy who did work hard. He covered lots of stuff for the Villa and was dealing also with AVTV that to say was run on a shoestring was polite.

He will be missed by me as he made me laugh and cringe in equal measure and as I also suspect the alternative is nothing...

TSM2 gave him a proper verbal bullying at one of the start of season forums. Really out-of-order sort of stuff too, well beyond normal p*ss-taking. Sums TSM2 up really.

Was/is he actually a Villa fan?

Sheff Weds.

Was amazed doing a bit of research that Jack's been a club employee for 15 years (joined in 2001) so would've certainly developed affection for the club when you serve it for so long.

Thanks Soccer HQ. I had a sneaky feelin' that he may not have been. Good to know my Villa-dar is firing on all cylinders (the other good news after a quick consultation is that my Villa-dar 100% confirms that David Cameron is definitely not a Villa fan - but we always knew that didn't we?).

If he is not a Villa fan, then his greatest legacy for me was that he made me truly believe he was.  A lot of his commontry was cringeworthy though wasn't it?

Yes, for the affection for the Villa that shone through in his lameness, the fact that he didn't even support us reflects well on him. I remember him singing a Christmas carol, eyes closed, dramatic vocals, in front of some of the squad one year, might have been an Acorns event. I hope the players were fond of him, Gabby would often struggle to keep a straight face during his interviews with Jack, which was interesting as on TV his serious, cliche-ridden ones are far less entertaining.
