It was notable because Bobby Tambling scored five goals for Chelsea but the most memorable thing for me was the standing ovation Tambling received at the end of the from from virtually every Villa fan in the ground. If this happened these days I doubt very much if a visiting player would get such a reaction from the present generation of Villa (or any other fans for that matter)Times have changed and not necessarily for the better.I was there and as hacked off as it's possible to be. I didn't applaud Tambling, neither do I remember anyone else doing so (though I admit to standing).

I wasn't at the match but Bluenose buddies of mine insist a large section Villa applauded Trevor Franciswhen scored a hat trick against for QPR. Sounds unlikely to me.

Sounds unlikely to me.I was there and I certainly don't recall it. In fact I was running back up the half empty Holte to avoid the pissing rain when his third went in.

We've applauded Lampard, Henry and Zola from memory.
