We're in for a tough season if that was our best today. We need an entire midfield, a striker, and a dependable defender.

We're well short of what we need to be even in the mix for promotion.  All the more galling after Xia's comments when he arrived.  I blame Xia totally for the mess we look at the moment, and if I thought that nonsense he spouted about big investment in the playing squad could be used as a contract, I'd sue him for breach of contract.

I can't say I was overly impressed but i'm not panicking too much either. I just hope playing Gestede is a temporary measure because without service, it's a waste of time. You might as well play me there.

You blame our chairman for relegation? Haven't you got an Albion site to post on?

Nelly, from what I've read it appears he is looking for two strikers. ...snip

TV, I think you're right that the side will (hopefully) see a lot of changes, it's clear that Villa are trying to being people in. That's encouraging. I guess we'll have to wait and see how things pan out. I would have liked for Di Matteo try try Ayew up front with Grealish behind today. Ayew was pretty much a midfielder today it seemed.

I hope we have a bit more about us next week, I think it'll be a tough game for us against Wednesday. Once we solidify out first team a bit I think things will look much rosier.

While only watching the game on TV today I have to say that there is massive concern ......

We look little or no different to last season .......
There seems to have been little recruitment happening ...maybe it can't until some are moved on
If thats the case we may have problems as the window now shits in 4 weeks
There didn't seem any real formation to the team .....

If we start next weekend with this team there is only one result and it will be same number of points as goals ....nil

Worrying signs ........ lets cut all the Twitter chat Dr Xia and lets see the focus on the Club ...less talk and more action

We all want the same things but currently it simply is not falling into place

Let's at least give him the fullness of the transfer window to see what happens.

Probably not a bad result in the sense that RDM can now see our limitations as a narrow win could paper over the cracks. Enforcer in midfield, someone who can see a pass but the main concern is a lack of a decent forward. Gestede neither has the brains or technical skills to be even a Championship forward. We need someone who can hold the ball up and actually make runs pass the centre backs to actually create space for players like Grealish and Ayew.

I've no idea who this Bristol City lad is, but he must be better than what we already have.

Not if we have a manager who thinks it is ok to watch Ayew playing alongside Westwood with Gestede stood scratching his arse all game it won't.

No.  But I do blame him for the lack of activity in bringing players in, give his boasting and bragging.

From todays team I don't think many came out with much credit ........

Much as its sad news I fear Grealish is just all hype ....
Gardner ....... forget it
Ayew ...Did he look like he wanted to be there?

You could go on but its time Grealish either put a shift in was we forget him ...not popular words I guess but what else can be said

Words are wind, time for some serious action instead of the bullshit we are hearing. We know that a few are not good enough and should be binned, he has hinted at doing it but Dr T needs to pay them up and fuck them off if no one else wants them. Then let RDM get a few more fresh faces in, sorry I have had a drink but what do we expect with only 3 new players in the squad. Miracles will not happen with this squad.

Agreed. Playing Gestede was a waste today. And Westwood: Gr. I think our midfield was the most dissapointing aspect of today's game for me.

LV I am with you on this one, time a fair few of the squad pulled their weight and delivered, I would love Ayew to stay but if his mind is elsewhere the get rid and spend the cash on someone who wants to be here.

grealish is over rated and if he isn't careful will end up the same as a lot of other promising youngsters we have had, no where.

Just walked through the door.  Still totally pissed off with them.  What was the single biggest reason for our abject humiliation last season ? It was defeatism. A losing mentality.  The opposition score and we throw in the towel.  We assemble in the centre circle, shoulders slumped, heads bowed, silent - just as though a coffin is being buried on the centre spot. No rolling up of sleeves, no encouraging each other, just spineless acceptance of inevitable defeat.  Today was the day I realised we should have got Nigel Pearson.  It costs nothing to roust a team.  Just bollock them until they start to play like men, not frigging eunuchs.
