Rubbish. Major investment was required pre-season and it didn't happen. Not at all surprised. No chance of promotion on that showing.

Cissokho at fault there.

Odd that you didn't bother to comment on the Villa goal.

It's almost as if you're only interested in making negative comments.

Hutton is shit and Cissokho was at fault there, all facts now toddle off and find something better to do with your time than constant insinuating.

Maybe toddle off and learn what "insinuating" means.

And neither Hutton nor Cissokho are shit.
You are joking?

Ermmm... no. Cissokho is about average and Hutton is above average.
You're ok with these average and nearly good but not quite full backs playing in this below average defence?

One of them won't be playing much once Amavi is fit. There will be few clubs with a better right-back than Hutton or a better back-up left-back than Cissokho in our league. Long term, if we were ever aiming to compete near the top of the Premier League again we'd need to improve on them, but they're more than adequate for where we are. Our priorities should be on strengthening our midfield and attack. The midfield offered no protection whatsoever today and Boro were allowed to canter from one end of the pitch to the other without encountering a tackle.

A loss like this could be a blessing in disguise, as it shows that the inadequacies in the team still remain from last season. The main one being that we desperately need a striker, and it needs to be sorted asap.

Theyre dreadful players, mate. But, each to their own. Someone just pointed out that Ayew is 'killing the team'....

He has been, in this half, and it was his losing possession which cost us the second goal.

He's still by far our best player though which goes to show you can't read too much into a pre-season game.

I agree. I think with Ayew, he gets disheartened by some of the dirge around him. A sulker, perhaps. We desperately need a good midfielder and good striker. Theyre out there.

But yes, it's only pre season, and we'll see what they're made of next Sunday. Up the Villa!

Westwood.

My biggest concern is that Ashley fucking Westwood still seems to be first name on the teamsheet.

I'm not in the least bit concerned that we lost 1-3 to Middlesborough in a preseason friendly

I am however very concerned that we appear to be lining up with the likes of Bacuna and Westwood next week against Sheffield Wednesday  The lack of much needed investment is worrying .

Poor 2nd half, positives for me amavi back, tshibola  showed some decent touches, grealish and ayew had some good link up play first half. Negatives- full backs poor, keeper should of done better for first goal, bacuna,Westwood, gestede are not good enough. Ayew played too deep 2nd half. No threat at goal, no pace.

It's a little bit disheartening I must say.  I have hope that new players will be arriving, we certainly need them.  First half I was thinking that with two or three goodish players coming in, we may be in with a chance of promotion.  If it doesn't happen I fear there's no chance.

It just proves what a single mistake can do to a team with fragile confidence.  Cissokho's give away for their first goal had us chasing a game that didn't need chasing leaving an average defence dangerously exposed by a near non-existent mid-field.  We'll soon see.

Surprised anybody has mentioned the sauntering, seemingly self obsessed Jack Grealish. he will need to do far more than that during the season.

Re Gestede, in this formation it's like playing with 10 men. What's the point

There is clearly lots of work ahead

This is it. What next, Agbonlahor back in the team?
