For anyone who went. Did the players look good? Who played well? Who didn't? Did they look in better condition than at the same stage last year?

Agreed

Formation(s)
Fitness
Tactics (hoping we have some of these this season)
Young players performances

It really helps those that cannot make the games

Gardner, Green Gollini and Grealish looked the best.

[Agree Brian. The constant baiting of players needs to stop because it will derail our attempts to go back up. It's over, move on. We went down it was shit. But if the manager picks Bacuna or Lescott or Gabby we have to give them the best chance to succeed both individually and as part of the team.

I agree with you we have to put last season behind us and move on and get behind them this season.

Gabby can do what he likes in a Villa shirt ranging from M - XXL. I just need to look at his retarded countenance to know I'll always remain one of his loyal haterz.

All the fans' comments I've seen suggested grealish and Gardner the best, with an exciting cameo from green

The Mail said Gardner was rubbish tho. I've a low opinion of their analysis however!

Sounds like we were ropey at the back tho it was far from first choice

I imagine 4231 w grealish in the hole?

In addition to the ones mentioned by Ads I would add RH-M for energy, pace and effort.  He got very little from the ref in his tussles with a centre back a foot taller than himself and he deserved his goal.  There will be very few better players than Green and Grealish in the Championship.  And what a blessed relief to have a goalkeeper who can kick long and straight with either foot.

Cheers chaps. For me it sounds like if we add some experience and quality in the right areas (centre mid mainly) we could have an exciting season.

Our young players acquitted themselves well. Bloody shame they were not allowed to cheer us up a little when Black was blazing his trail of ignomony.

Given that the best thing about the team was the 4G does that mean we looked more mobile?

Can we have one bash at Gabby, preferably in a friendly, and then get on with supporting the club.
The fact Gabby has managed to avoid facing the crowd through lack of fitness/unspecific injuries boils my piss a bit.

I accept that it is only a friendly, but I would be treating tomorrow's game for all intents and purposes as the first game of the season.  It should be the side that will start next week, with a few opportunities for squad members later on in the game.
