Players still needed all throughout the side.

No width, no skill in the middle, Gestede hopeless upfront. I'd say we need another 4 players in that improve us to stand a chance of automatic promotion.

Arsenal scored late to draw against Lens, the league below Nantes. They're probably fucked as well.

From the official site "we're now 5 unbeaten" includes the likes of Bristol Rovers, Telford  and Worcester - testing times ahead me  thinks.

Or they're trying to get some positive feeling going.

I'm still waiting for AVTV to send me a password reminder.
The game was on the OS, not through AVTV.

btw, I've had my new password
thing and in attempting to use it couldn't get beyond the first of the 5 instructions because there is no "underlined link" to click!!!

It took me a while to sort it out too. The avfc site instructions are useless, completely useless.

Arsenal don't have by and large the same squad that won 3 games out of 38.

In fairness though, and I fully acknowledge we need three or four more players, we're playing at a much lower level now. So immediately that squad improves in quality relative to who we'll be playing.

Yes it does, that's why I don't expect us to be struggling to stay up. The same huge problems will still be there though with the same set of players, it wasn't a one off, we've been consistently terrible for years.

There's no voice in the middle and no focus point to the attack.

How are we going about scoring our goals? What's the game plan? What are our strengths to exploit? We have no idea and haven't had one for over 12 months. Too many players who are nothing players.

I'm still waiting. They recognised my email address and promised to send me an email to register with a new password. Sounds like a job for Recon Group though from what I've read, I won't hold my breathe.

I dunno. Typos aside I thought the short write up was actually pretty good by Paul Brown.

Here is is in full. Seems fair to me.

Analysis

Rudy Gestede’s second half goal guaranteed the win over FC Nantes here in the latest game of our pre-season schedule.

It’s now five games unbeaten, this victory following wins over GAK Graz, Telford, Worcester and a draw at Bristol Rovers.

It wasn’t the best of games in truth, with very little goalmouth action but fitness was improved and confidence was increased.

Gestede finished well on 71 minutes after Nathan Baker headed back a Jack Grealish corner.

There were also runouts for new boys Tommy Elphick and Pierluigi Gollini for 90 minutes while Aaron Tshibola slotted into midfielder for final 45 minutes.

I, since 1973 when Aston Villa took hold of me, have never seen a worse set up from top to bottom. It may be my age, but name me one player or one aspect of the club that instills any hope for a return to the glory years? We are definitely shitter than 87-88.

With due respect, maybe give the new manager and owner more than a few weeks to try and sort this pile of shite out. On another thing, Villa are so much worse than the mighty Newcastle. Are we really?
