Almost non-existent forward threat however Elphick is a solid defender. It's good to see him organising at the back.

Nantes are probably Championship level and to be fair they were as feeble as we were in attack.

Apparently Nantes had 54% possession and 15 shots. Were the stats guys watching a different game?

A win is a win - lets hope we do this more often this season.

Not a great performance but some signs of hope.

Decent at the back. Elphick looks an unremarkable Championship defender. IE: A massive step up for us. Keeper looked solid.

Midfield. Gana & Bacuna worked hard. Grealish looked like our most skillful player. The rest... oh dear.

Up front Ayew was good. Gestede was garbage in open play.

On the plus side I REALLY enjoyed watching live Villa again :)

Thought we defended quite well in the second half. Gana was decent and broke up play well. The ref didn't seem to give Jack very much but that's something he might have to get used to in the championship. Good workout for us I thought though.

Tshibola - how did he do?

Alright. Broke up play a couple of times. Lost possession a couple of times. Ran a lot. Didnt seem to wander out of position. Did some short passes which made sense.

As they kicked-off for the start of the second half, did anyone cop the lone voice singing of Holte Enders in the sky rendered in a strong Brummie accent?

Very disappointing.  Off the ball movement was poor and pretty clear we carry little threat going forward.  Proof that so much needs to be done before we can start talking  about promotion.  Stop talking the talk Doctor Tony.  You need to walk the walk.
