Now disappointed because we did not win and reports are we are still crap  :(

We weren't. We looked like a team playing a friendly against a bunch of players who were more excited about playing against us than we were about playing against them.

Daniel Leadbitter impressed me at Right Back

Matty Taylor would be a good buy. The bloke's a goal scorer (47 in 94 for Rovers)

This Bristol Rovers scouting report is brought to you by the same person (ie me) who was banging on about signing Rickie Lambert in 2007/08 before he moved from Rovers to Southampton

Hi guys, my dad and I are French Villa nuts, my dad has been since 1981, and when we saw that Villa were playing against Nantes in St Nazaire, not too far from where we live, we could not miss it for the world.
So we got tickets and we were wondering if any of you are coming down for the game on Saturday, we'd love to meet with some of you and the Villa fans fans before the game to have a drink or something, let us know if anything like that happens ! Cheers UTV !

You wouldn't be coming down from the Angers area would you?

Yes, we are indeed from Angers !

Say hello to Frank for me.

Frank says hello back !

We might be rubbish this season, but last night offers no evidence to either back it up or refute it.

Doesn't that describe the majority of next season though? Everyone we play against is going to be excited and up for it against us, if we don't show the same we are going to do shit.

Very low key from players and the villa fans. The only two players that seemed to put in a bit more effort were Grealish and Ayew.
Hopefully the next couple of friendlies will be a bit more intensive.  4231 seems to be the formation of choice. It just worries me that
crosses into the box were still being provided by the full backs rather than a proper wide player. Greta turn out on a Wed night!

The only friendly I can recall us battering anybody was Inter. They won the title and we finished 6th.

I stopped going to friendlies. They get their pound of flesh from me between August and May.

The only friendly I am likely to surface at would be played in my back garden.

I'd go if it was European opposition, or even some exotic mob from Brazil, China or some mad place. Can't be arsed with Middlesbrough though although it's possible I'll change my mind and decide to turn up on the day.

I will be in Somerset spending the cash I may otherwise have on that and a trip to Sheffield on important things. Like plastic lightsabre's, mini golf in Brean and trying to win dinosaurs in the amusements.

Premier League Middlesbrough visiting Championship Aston Villa. Reality is kicking in.
We should be grateful to Boro for coming down to play us.

Mr Beer is someone who's had to put up for several years with me moaning about Villa's failure to sign Rickie and also my advocating for Ian Holloway as manager, purely because he talks properly  :D

From my seat low down in the stand behind the goal, I had a better view of the incoming weather than I did of the game.

BTW, it's been raining this evening  ;)

Can anyone remember the kick off time for this Saturdays game?
Can't see it on OS and I've gone back a few pages on here but don't see it.
Thanks

A lean Gabby Agbonlahor absolutely roasted the Inter defence that day. Cristian Chivu was terrified of him.
