No Guzan due to additional rest time after International games (presumably the same applies to Clark and Sanchez), but Richards, Lescott, Bacuna and Gabby still being given the opportunity to prove themselves. On paper that looks like such a shit squad, and beyond a starting 11 its hard to see any genuine quality...we may struggle to challenge for promotion without further additions.

So missing from that squad is:-

Guzan
Clark
Sanchez

Think that's the major ones?

I reckon Kozak might be okay at this level. Not as a first choice lone striker obviously,

Defenders: Tommy Elphick, Nathan Baker, Joe Bennett, Micah Richards, Jores Okore, Joleon Lescott, Alan Hutton, Jordan Amavi, Aly Cissokho, Leandro Bacuna.

Midfielders: Idrissa Gueye, Ashley Westwood, Jordan Veretout, Gary Gardner, Carles Gil, Jack Grealish, Stiliyan Petrov.

Forwards: Scott Sinclair, Gabby Agbonlahor, Jordan Ayew, Libor Kozak, Rudy Gestede.

Adama Traoré and Jordan Lyden remain at home for rehab on injuries
I think most of the squad will be good enough to keep us in the Championship but the players highlighted above are probably the only ones good enough to get us promoted. I have absolutely no faith in the rest of them which is quite worrying when that is approx a third of the squad.

Oh I see, did think that Clark and Sanchez would only be omitted if there was interest in buying them.

I reckon there are at least five players (minimum) you've not highlighted who would be on the "good enough to get us promoted" list before Hutton's name came up.

That's impossible...there are only 4 that I haven't highlighted before Hutton (unless you're counting first name and surnames!). I was marginal on Hutton as I think he could do a job with his work rate in the Championship, but I'd quite happily take him off the list if that makes you happy?  :)

In fairness, I could probably scrape another 4 or 5 to make a half decent starting 11, but I wouldn't have any confidence in that team other than may be scraping into the playoffs.

Lyden's having rehab and presumably it's what RDM was referring to about the squad being too big. As it's mainly about fitness it's better the kids do their own training, move out any dead wood we can and then bring youth through when it's merited.

This new era not really taken off yet has it? Got to be patient I guess but this all feels a bit too familiar at the moment. I'm sure they will be fitter and more organised but we need fresh blood.

#AVFC first half team: Gollini, Richards, Elphick, Baker, Cissokho, Gana, Gardner, Gil, Veretout, Ayew, Kozak.

#AVFC second half team: Bunn, Hutton, Okore, Lescott, Bennett, Westwood, Petrov, Grealish, Agbonlahor, Sinclair, Gestede.

No Amavi in there, but great to see Stan
