newcastle could not beat Aston Villa this season . How shit are they ?
Second most shit team in the league would be my assessment.

Even Villa reserves beat Villa this season*

*I know that's not strictly speaking true but the press didn't let facts get in the way of a good story.

I hope our potential buyers were there to see how good our fans can be. Get the deal done.

Micky Quinn seems a tad upset on Talkshite about today.

I remember a few years him gloating about Coventry stopping us from winning the league.

I think today hints at how brilliant it would be if Villa had any hint of success. I know it's bitter, but I don't think Villa Park would need Andrea Bocelli if the team finished top of the pile.

I hate to go against the prevailing trend of positivity, but...

I thought football was part of the entertainment industry. Ah well what do I know.

Oh it is, see the modern football is rubbish thread. No one at B6 read the memo though.

Cracking day. Cracking atmosphere. Newcastle fans been giving it the big 'un for weeks about rubbing our noses in it yet their support was crap. They had no comeback second half. I said yesterday they would be shocked by the party atmosphere and they were.

No - but some very good Villa ones, I applaud their creators, and the unfurling of "SOB ON THE TYNE AGAIN" on full-time gave us the final laugh.

As others have said, the crowd was outstanding today.

However, on the pitch..no shots, no corners, no flair, and no idea.

Part of me is sad that the support was so good yet in response to something so awful. I understand the self mockery but it's still bittersweet.

Same-old on the pitch, but the atmosphere today was magnificent - a show of defiance against our current plight.

I told my two young sons to suck it all in because days like that don't happen very often. Had the hairs on the back of my neck standing up several times.

What an absolutely fantastic atmosphere! Newcastle missed a couple of sitters but were otherwise pretty poor. Pity Black didn't seem to think the fans should be rewarded with any entertainment. Five defenders and three defensive midfielders on the pitch while Gil, Grealish and Traore sit on the bench and, quelle surprise, not a single corner or a single shot on target in the entire game. Heard Black on WM on the way back and he was genuinely pleased that his plan to keep it at 0-0 worked as he didn't want the record of 12 consecutive defeats. Had he put some attacking intent we could of course have won. Hope he fucks off on the horse he rode in on, and the sooner the better
