Southgate's reference to "ambition" was code for "I want more money".  His departure was bad, his persuasion of Ugo and George Boateng to go was unforgivable.  I have a long memory.

Weren't Chelsea in for him the previous summer?
I always assumed he put that request in hoping for that to be revived.
Then when it didn't materialise and he'd burnt his bridges, he moved to Boro because they came in for him.

What I would say, and this is in no way a defence of his move; wages 15 years weren't as high as today so his move to double his money would be hard to turn down. The ambition line going to Boro was a stretch though. Although as another poster said he did win another trophy whereas Villa did not.

Hard to take as a Villa fan but he may well have been right about the ambition bit.  World according to Doug compared with that of Gibson(?) at Boro

Isn't Hutton set to equal the longest run of games for a player without a premier league win today ? Another oxygen thief

Optimistically it is Southgate running the rule over our current side. He then turns to Little and all it shows on the paper is a giant penis. Little nods politely,

I reckon it would be a very small, flaccid penis.

Southgate had been there longer than Gregory at the time and later Gregory came out with much the same rhetoric.  I seem to recall an interview he did in The Times or Guardian where he referred to Doug as being in a timewarp.

Seems fitting that we're surrendering pathetically.

Richardson is a truly terrible player, even when he does the right thing and beats his man he ruins it by stopping and then hitting a pass 7-8 yards too long.  On top of that Sinclair might as well just go and sit down for all the impact he's having.

However bad a footballer Hutton is, his commitment cannot be questioned.  The only player all season to show any kind of fight.  For that he will always have my respect.

See I don't understand this, he's been terrible for most of the season, responsible for a whole load of goals we've conceded and guilty of wasting pretty much every opportunity he's had to get the ball into the box at the oth3er end but because he runs a lot and kicks people here and there he gets respect, sod that he's righnt up there with Guzan, Gestede and Gabby for our worst player of the season for me.

I'm so sick of seeing a pathetic performance and the manager refusing to make any substitutions.

We haven't had a shot all game and we still persist with Sinclair and Richardson.

How is that shoulder in the back not a foul when the one that Rooney 'won' that led to their goal was given?

Hutton just isn't a very good footballer is he? He's in good company, mind.
