Da Fuq? I don't get it. Yeah I would. I don't own a football team so would need to do something else with them. Like have them wash my car, cook me food etc. Would I own them?
I'm sure owning other people has been done before but I'll go with it.....

I wonder if I have got this totally wrong and people should pay the club £10.00 to avoid having to take a player from us.

There could be hundreds of teams all over the county who would go into blind panic at the thought of having to take on some of our players. The £10 would be like a protection fee to save themselves. If this went Europe or World Wide we could make some money.

Problem could be that we would still be stuck with the expensive buggers given their current salaries.

They were at the opposite extremes of choice.
Woodies were very cheap - kids could just about pay for a 5 packet -  --Senior Service and Players  were what employed people smoked.

It was 9p for a pack of 10 Gold Sovereign when I was a lad.

My parents used to send me to the newsagent to buy theirs. 1/6d for a packet of ten if I remember correctly. They even sold packets of 5.

Capstan full strength was the brand of choice if you really wanted to give your lungs what for.
